Since this is the community page, here's something totally random and sucky about Origin.
Don't know if any of you have had this issue but here is my experience and the solution to it.
Saturday night whilst engaging in epic battle with a friend against opposing forces, we had an epic internet DC. After about 30 mins it was sorted we had internets and my friend could happily run around and kill people.
I couldn't. For some random reason Origin logs in, says I need to update, then it closes. Fiddle with it for 30 mins, still does the same. Blood pressure sky rockets and rage sets in.
I calm myself then head over to the EA "support" forums. There I struggle to get my account validated by EA before I can post my problem.
Finally get the account validated after another 30 mins. Look for someone with my problem, find nothing then proceed to posting my grievances about the game and all the steps taken to check what the problem might be. Not anti-virus, firewall, internet connection, network settings, drivers (fresh windows 7 64 bit ultimate install with all the latest hassle free drivers.), uninstalling other software that was added after Origin and before it started to bug out.
I decide I won't get a response that night so I watch in awe as my friend gets to enjoy his game. I decide jealousy might over come me so I go to sleep.
The next morning I check and I received a response - YAY - not from EA - SCREW YOU EA!.
So this guy tells me there is a newer version of Origin available at some link somewhere hidden away on the EA website. I uninstall my current (8.3.3.35) Origin, restart, install new Origin (8.3.3.40). It says there is an update for BF3, I click download.
The downloaded version (8.3.3.35)...................................... WTF? Rinse and repeat about 5 times.
Rage sets in again.
After much Googling and fiddling and no response from EA, I decide FUCK IT. I'll do a system restore since I don't have much data on the pc atm.
On a side note, if you install PowerISO 4.8 be careful or don't risk it, since this seems to be the most likely candidate for the issue I had with Origin.
SO it worked, I played, killed and smiled again. All was good and just in the world again.
But seriously, EA has no support, so don't expect a response from them. If you have an issue with your Origin post it here and maybe you'll find help or just post your solution to a problem here for the benefit of others.
Moral of this story, create a restore point before installing new stuffs onto your system, Origin is finicky as hell and might break if you look at it.
