Comparing apples with apples, Asus 4780x2 vs Asus Gtx295

Asus 4870x2 = R8822.98
Asus GTX295 = R8667.03

But if you can get yourself a 4870x2 for R5500, that's a sweet deal. :cool:

LOL That's because your comparing asus cards..unfortunatly asus demands a much higher price for no extra performance.

As far as bang for buck goes the 4870x2 (R5500) owns anything on the market!!

PC International FTW! I do pretty much all my PC shopping there, except for games and modding stuff. Their prices always beat eveyone. I wonder if their stuff has "fallen" off the back of a truck

Yo, you started with the GTX 295 as the asus, not me, thus the "apples with apples" :p Also, we need a site that provides for both the 4870x2 AND the GTX295 and you started with prophecy. ;)

It doesn't matter though...I prefer the new Ati cards cause they catter for the normal people that havn't got R9000 to spend on a graphics card.
As far as im concerned the Ati range is by far the best value for money!!

I used to be a very biased fanboy type of guy.

AMD(CPU) / Nvidia was the only thing I ever touched.

Then I grew up. Now when upgrade time comes, I buy the best bang for buck at that moment, wether its AMD/ATI, Intel or Nvidia, doesn't matter. I want the best performing hardware for my money.

BUT, i would still sleep better with an Nvidia Card in my pc though, dunno why ?!?!

This is the point I was making with the 9800GTX+ vs the 4870. The 9800GTX+ is the 9800GTX done better. It's a pure number game for the forums, but if you pay closer attention to what REALLY happens, you'll notice the less powerful 9800GTX+ beats the 4870 every time for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars v1.4. On a hardware level, this shouldn't happen. Here is another case and point:

9800GTX+ would never be better than a GTX 280. Driver support and how the game is written and also the resolutions. By saying ATI is "best value for money" is purely dependent on your expectations. Want to play crysis on 1280x1024, 0xAA, Trilinear, High Quality? 9800GTX+ is the way to go, wanna play World in Conflict - then the 4870 seriously kicks all other (single) cards.

The problem I have with PC International is that they have not once responded to my emails regarding products I was interested in.

Both have served me well at different times. ;)

Don't have a real preference. Each one has their pros and cons, so choose one.

I still check which is the better of the 2 for the amount of money that must be spent, so I agree with Joker as well above, if it is the best compared to the money being spent or the money that is available to me, then that's the one I will take.

I cannot help but laugh (cos it's funny to me, you know that way) at people forking out 10k extra on a cpu, just cause it's Xtreme and bleeding edge. Same applies to gfx.
I'd rather go to *cough*Teazers*cough* or something and have a very fun night with that money :D

I have the GTX280 and man it's a cool card. I also overclocked it a bit and running fan on 100% and it never goes over 55C
