He is in a cranky mood :)
Well apologies all round then. Make gaming-time, not war
Gtx295 is way more expenssive than the 4870x2

I can get a 4870x2 for R5500
Hehehe, I got my x2 for R5500. :D
Bang for buck the Ati wins hands down!!
LOL I thought nvidia was the best!!
Now you're interrested in the 4870x2
ATI FTW!!!

4870x2 R5100 excluding vat
Yo, you started with the GTX 295 as the asus, not me, thus the "apples with apples" :p Also, we need a site that provides for both the 4870x2 AND the GTX295 and you started with prophecy. ;)
Never said Nvidia was better than ATI, matter of fact I said the 4870 was better, reason for going for the 9800GTX+ was price and requirements for me personally.Quote:

Then I grew up. Now when upgrade time comes, I buy the best bang for buck at that moment, wether its AMD/ATI, Intel or Nvidia, doesn't matter. I want the best performing hardware for my money.
BUT, i would still sleep better with an Nvidia Card in my pc though, dunno why ?!?!
That doesn't mean Nvidia is better than ATI, means the the GTX 295
The GTX 295 outperforms (not BETTER than) the 4870x2
Tri-SLI GTX 295 would outperform it as well, doesn't mean you should buy 3 GTX 295s.
This is the point I was making with the 9800GTX+ vs the 4870. The 9800GTX+ is the 9800GTX done better. It's lower on power usage than the 4870, 9800GTX+ cheaper [using prophecy as the benchmark, if you can find cheaper for the 4870, then go for it] but ultimately the 9800GTX+ lacks frame rate of about 5% from the 4870 for all of tomshardware's GPU benchmarks. With a cost of 30% more for 5% increase in performance for a 4807 makes the 9800GTX+ better value for money.Quote:
I prefer the new Ati cards cause they catter for the normal people that havn't got R9000 to spend on a graphics card.
As far as im concerned the Ati range is by far the best value for money!!
It's a pure number game for the forums, but if you pay closer attention to what REALLY happens, you'll notice the less powerful 9800GTX+ beats the 4870 every time for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars v1.4. On a hardware level, this shouldn't happen. Here is another case and point:
Crysis on Toms
9800GTX+ would never be better than a GTX 280. Driver support and how the game is written and also the resolutions. By saying ATI is "best value for money" is purely dependent on your expectations. Want to play crysis on 1280x1024, 0xAA, Trilinear, High Quality? 9800GTX+ is the way to go, wanna play World in Conflict - then the 4870 seriously kicks all other (single) cards.
NVIDIA OR ATI?
Both have served me well at different times. ;)
Don't have a real preference. Each one has their pros and cons, so choose one.
Why do people get all fussy about brands? They just care that they making money, they don't care about their loyal supporters, people should buy the best product for you budget.
True that.
I still check which is the better of the 2 for the amount of money that must be spent, so I agree with Joker as well above, if it is the best compared to the money being spent or the money that is available to me, then that's the one I will take.
I cannot help but laugh (cos it's funny to me, you know that way) at people forking out 10k extra on a cpu, just cause it's Xtreme and bleeding edge. Same applies to gfx.
I'd rather go to *cough*Teazers*cough* or something and have a very fun night with that money :D
Depends who offers the best performance for my budget at that time. Its usually been nvidia.
ATI is better i wnat to wait and see when the 40890 comes out mmmmm
I like both but at the moment Nvidia because it has Physx
Nvidia provides nice drivers
But ATI is pretty powerful stuff
It really depends on whether you need run nicely or run more unstable but powerful
i used to be an ati fan, but last year went with a xfx 9600gt which has treated me well, so i'll stay with nvidia for a while
They are pretty equal to be honest. ATi had a great card with the 4870.
I use a GTX 280.
Nvidia FTW!!
nvida > ati atm :p
i would say ati > nvidia ... reason being bank for the buck ... nvidia was dominating but their new range of cards are ridiculously priced :(
personally i like my nvidia it just feels like ati lost it after the 9800 series lol
check this out

ati is still up front :S
I have the GTX280 and man it's a cool card. I also overclocked it a bit and running fan on 100% and it never goes over 55C
