So its about that time that i built up a new PC and sad to say ive been sittng with a console for way too long and have lost track of whats what in the PC world... last PC i had was a LGA775 with DDR400 Ram & AGP graphics so lets say its been a while...
So id like to know differences and pro's & Con's between the socket 1366 vs 1156, what do you use? and why?
Got a socket 1366 myself, but both these sockets are old. Maybe look at a Sandybridge 1155 setup or wait for Intel's new socket launch.
Go for 1155 or wait for the 2011 socket.
1155 replaced 1156, 2011 will be replacing 1366.
Wow ok looks like ill wait for the 2011 how long has the the 1155 been out?? And then just as you get the 2011 there will be something replacing that...:wtf: dont even want to get started on RAM and memory... Just want some level of future proofing.
New AMD CPU's will be coming out soon. They usually allow for longer use of a socket.
Forget about 1156 and 1366 wait for the new sockets to arrive. Also afaik it goes like this 2011>1155>1366>1156>775
I agree with users wait for the new socket shouldnt take to long to come out unless you need to upgrade then 1155 is the way to go. Both the 1156 and 1366 are dated sockets, so dont get that... i am not sure how long Intel will keep socket 1155 alive after they release their new CPUs, so in case you were thinking of upgrading again soon after your current purchase.
Get youtself a Z68 mobo, Sandy Bridge 2500k or 2600k. Take a good shot of CUD, and stay in the game :p
Bulldozer launches at 6pm local time tomorrow, so another option will be available to you.
X79/socket 2011 + Ivy Bridge + Southern Island/Kepler-based ATI/Nvidia gfx cards = for the win!
Or you could get Z68 + 2500k + 6900/5xx series.
The latter will undoubtedly be much kinder on the pocket, probably with fairly similar performance to boot.
