Evony - free online game
If you after a free online game to distract you at work or home or wherever, check out Evony. The game is called Evony and is similar to Travian, for those who know it. Only much better. It can get quite time intensive at the start, but after a while you can leave it for hours without having to do much.
Basically in a nutshell you build your own little medieval kingdom and wage war against your neighbours and enemy alliances .
There are 9 ranks to get and each one allows for an additional city. Cities can be built from scratch or taken off other players or even NPC cities.
Like Travian you get 7 days newbie protection, which you can end early by doing certain things, but unlike Travian you don't get near destroyed (at least in my case) the day it ends.
The game is totally free, but like all these you have the option to spend real money on stuff to improve and enhance your gaming. You also get a daily gift that allows a spin of a wheel of fortune type thing where you can win most of the items that a purchasable as well as game coins.
Anyway I've really been enjoying it a lot and so far I've stuck with it a little over 3 or 4 weeks now. Unlike travian which I lasted 8 days or eRublick which I got super bored with after a week and left it to let my character die a slow and horrible death from lack of food.
I'm on server 15 in the province of Bohemia...

Yeah bit of guilty pleasure been playing it a while now. Joined a group called Travean funny enough. I like the hands off approach. Takes about 15 minutes when I decide to play it and then you leave it again. Pity I am on server 16 on Tuscany. Quite a few South African's and Afrikaners on it.

What is it like on the cap?
-
I don't think it is so heavy - what is irritating is that it loads the client every time which is 3.5 MB but other than I would guess minimal... worth a try, kept me hooked but resources are taking long to build now (50 hours) - I stand the chance of forgetting that I played the game if it keeps getting longer

I've not noticed too much knock on the cap and I can run it in the background while playing wow without any lag.
One thing though is it will eat memory resources if left open for a long time. I've had it run my firefox up to over a gig of memory use when it was open all day. But a simple restart of the browser every hour or three sorts that out.

wow, over a gig of memory
