hmm im not so sure about improved DX10 performance on this one, feels the same as within Vista, but what I can say the OS it self performs well.
Noticed games don't have a higher fps, but it definatily is smoother, seen differences in cod, and crysis :P
While I did run into difficulties when trying to play Bioshock in Windows 7, they were easily overcome by running it in Windows XP and using Direct X 9. Of my older titles,
Expendable wouldn't work.
I'll look at saving up for Windows 7 Home Premium once I start my Night Job and
and settle my medical bills.
Win7 really is my fav windows so far. I have used all since win95 and win7 is by far the best.
Win7 Rules... Hands down... 7 Is the new Xp!!
Sheesh, getting excited for 22Oct. Wouldnt have thought I'd ever say I'm excited by a Microshaft product, but seriously, this is the OS of OS's
I did hear that Ubuntu were going to release something to compete against the 7 power:D But the only thing that will always set them back is the Function for windows games to run on there OS. Wine is just a performace killer.
Also Can't wait for this :D:D
been using the beta for ages, runs better than my vista ever has.
Already took the plunge into the Win 7 pool. Its a cleaner pool than Vista I can promise you that! Im waiting for DA to see how much better the DX11 performance will be on Win 7 than the Dx10 performance on Vista.
think i'll have a couple more months of XP, then upgrade to win7 when any necessary bug fixes are out and everything is fully supported :)
been using win 7 since the beta's and i honestly cant say i have had any problems.
Been using Win7 for a while now and it is truly the best Windows ever (almost as good as an actual OS would be, but lets face it, we are talking about Microsoft here, jk).
I can play games on it without any problem...
well well well what can we say windows 7 seems to be doing kinda well already and its not released yet maybe they will do alot better on sales for windows 7 then they did vista
I had a stack of Punkbuster issues in the original releases but it seems to be fine now. Havnt had a game I cant play in it yet.
Only a few more days until the official release. :)
I have bean running the RTM version and haven't had any problems as of yet
I'm enjoining Windows 7. Found Vista to be less stable than XP. Windows 7 are a lot better. It runs smoother and uses actually less resources that Vista. Not a prone to application locking up the OS.
you think we'll get better pricing with a PRE-ORDER or wait till the official release?
i personally think waiting a few months would be the better option..
let them iron out all the kinks and wait for the price to drop abit.
I will be going for the Professional Edition and at R2000 odd, find it abit to pricy.
but thats just me :P
agreed, I'll wait until its fist service pack is released then go out and get it.
There's no reason to wait. Testing has found win 7 to be very stable and fast. Pricing is fantastic on win 7. I am paying nearly half of what I payed for vista home premium.
I am waiting for the release and all the hype to die down a bit.
I agree there is no reason to wait on the stability front, as the release candidate is very stable and performs very well.
I am saving up for it at the moment, since my 3 month old daughter has taken all my savings. :( :P
But it is recommended to do a clean install for best results. Wash, rinse, repeat...Quote:
If you have Vista, you can do an 'upgrade'
In fact you don't need to format, but neither upgrade...
You can install win 7 and vista where it just moves your old program files, documents and windows folders into a folder called windows.old
I still prefer formatting first tho :P
This is the first windows ever, I'd buy on the day of release if I had the money to do so.
I have absolutely no probs with this windows. It even plays Vampire: Bloodlines boja
Great article and I can certainly agree. Installing Win 7 feels like I've put an extra few GB's of RAM and a much faster processor into my PC. Things run far better on the RC than the previously installed Vista Ultimate.
Cant wait to get the final release.
Yeah you must format. I tried the easy way out and just installed it over Vista. all my files were still in windows.old and it seemed to work fine, until about 1 hour later I got a bluescreen come up (where it reboots automatically). So I ignored it and carried on until about an hour later where I got another one. I kept getting one each day for a full week (was too busy to format that week) then on the weekend I lost it and decided to just format. Havent had a problem ever since
