Being given the opportunity to pre order Diablo 3 on Takealot today I started thinking of my history with the Diablo Franchise
Keeping with this vein I'd like to Nominate Spartan, not only for this Month's Failpad but for a Lifelong Failpad Award for his actions when we were younger
When we upgraded our Acer 486 DX II PC to a Pentium 1 100 Machine we bought Windows 95
Along with the Operating system we alse received a Demo of Diablo I on the OS Disk
I loved the game from the very first second I started the Single Level Demo, with the Randomized Level Generator being astonishingly advanced and truly groundbreaking at that time.
I played and Replayed the First Level of the Dungeons for 6 months Straight, Until I had saved enough money for the Retail Version of Diablo I (Which I have to this day)
Playing the game every minute I could, navigating the Dungeosn under Tristram and feverishly killing everything the depths of Hell could throw at me, I eventually progressed to level 16, Killing Diablo was within in my Grasp
I had struggled for a while completing the last elvel and when I was away for a bit one night received a phone call from Spart, without so much as an explanation he asked me
"You know that level you were on in Diablo, you could Probably get there again right?"
My Shocked Silence prompted him to continue
"I was kind of playing something else (To this day I think he was playing Purple Princess Ponies) and Lightning wasted the PC, your game is gone along with the rest of it"
I was gutted.
Therefore I nominate him now, for Fail's Past and Present and SPECIFICALLY for playing on a PC that was connected to the Internet via a Motoral 56.6 Speedster Dialup Modem in a Lightning Storm
