Changing the 5850 this weekend for a 470GTX which will be traded by Monday for a 480GTX which will be traded for a 5970 which will be traded for a 6970 next week Friday....

5970 is a dual gpu card, the 6970 replaces the 5870 if I got it right, which is a single gpu card. Confusing model numbers ftw.

Edit : 5970 is 2x5870 (underclocked). Maybe he meant he's getting the 6990 which is the new gen dual gpu card.

Well like Nemesis said, the 5970 is a dual GPU card. The 6970 is a single GPU card. That being said the 6970 is the fastest single GPU that AMD offer. The 5970 was the fastest GPU of the previous generation cards and still holds its ground against some of the newer cards. Here is a comparison that i found. There are no bentch marks from what i saw but this can hive you an idea.

Also like Nemesis said if you meant to say the 6990 then that is more like it, comparing apples with apples(dual gpu vs dual gpu). If that is the case the 6990 will def be the better option.

Interesting thanks. The RaidMax PSU was not as cheap as those horrible things. It cost more around $60. Still pretty cheap for something of that capacity.

Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 @ 2.2 Ghz (Thinking of overclocking it a bit)
4GB DDR 800
ATI Radeon HD 4670 1GB DDR3
80GB HDD
320GB HDD
470Watt Gigabyte Odin PSU

And the rest doesn't really matter. Not such a great machine but it still plays new games at acceptable frames for me.

Just waiting on the new AMD cpu's that coming out soon to see if I really want to upgrade.
