Skyrim for me all about how you can mod the game for your own personal taste. Nexusmodmanger ofc is a winner too
I've never managed to mod skyrim... always downloaded other mods and ended up bugging my game to the point where the texture pack gets mixed up.
It crashed on me :( However, I'm saving to buy another copy, and hopefully that one will work.
someone give me a run down all the mods? i love this game and i am about to give it another run through.
There are thousands of mods already, from retextures to new armors and models to houses and flying boats. Listing them all is pointless.
In Steam, you can check out the workshop to get mods. I have gotten a couple of mods from the workshop, like Arrowsmith, but I found it annoying to look through since the steam browser is so slow.
Best place to look is Skyrim Nexus. Loads of mods, with both poster and user screenshots available. There are also forums available. You need to register to download some of the bigger mods though, IIRC.
You also Nexus Mod Manager, a tool from them which makes it easier to download and install mods if you don't want to do it manually.
I'm still checking the Nexus regularly, but I have not touched Skyrim in a While. I'm holding off till much later where I will wipe all my mods (currently installed about 8-9gb's) and do a fresh Skyrim and the latest mods for a new(ish) experience.

DOWNLOADING THE BETA UPDATE ON STEAM
If you’d like to download the 1.6 Beta Update on Steam, you’ll need to follow these steps:
Log into Steam
Click on Steam in the upper menu
Select Settings
Under the Account tab, go to the Beta Participation section and select Change.
A drop down menu will appear. Select Skyrim Beta.
Select OK.
Steam will now restart. After Steam restarts, Skyrim will be updated to the Beta version currently available.
If you opt into the Beta, be sure to back up your saved games or simply be careful not to overwrite your existing saves. If you decide to opt out of the beta program, your old saves will still work with the current release of Skyrim on Steam (v 1.5).
If you decide you don’t want to run the Beta anymore, redo steps 1 – 4. At the drop down, select NONE – Opt out of all beta programs. Let Steam restart, and Skyrim will automatically update itself back to the latest released version.
