Discarding the thought of purchasing BF3 simply due the notion of using Origin should not discourage you from trying it out. I generally don't even see the Origin interface, it simply runs in the background and launches my game automatically when I launch via the Battlelog browser interface.
Origin is crappy, but at least it isn't in your face and generally does not give any problems. Battlefield 3 is a solid game worth too much to be eclipsed by the negativity related to Origin.
BFBC2 does include attack choppers, but in my opinion, someone who has played the original Battlefields; the controls and gameplay are not that similar to Battlefield 3. For the full in-game aerial combat experience, go Battlefield 3.
