I agree about the end game, but to an extent I would also say the focus is way too much on Inferno and not enough on the time between Normal and Inferno.Quote:

Sorry if I come across as a twat but I wanted it to be something special and in the beginning it was..but its lost its magic far to quickly and I blame blizzard.
Well the initial quality just wasn't there in later Acts, if you compare 3 and 4 to 1 and 2 I find are very bland and have pretty much only one visual style throughout the entire act. 1 and 2 you had several different land scapes with a lot of detail in the environment and lots of little 'flavour' touches, 4 was just a joke.
The randomization is also aimed incorrectly, far too much randomization of the gear and far too little of the maps.
Too much emphasis on gear. Gear should make you better yes, but the extent to which this happens is just silly in D3. Your average player getting into Inferno with probably around 10k or less dps then you have your top end okes sitting with 200k dps. The weapon dps scaling is also a big culprit, having your damage increase by 30, 40, 50% just from a single item is stupid.
Not enough 'nooks and crannies', d2/lod I felt had a quite a few systems that filled out the game and let interested players experiment and become familiar with to grow in strength. Things like the Horadric cube, runewords, ladder, pvp, uber zones, etc... By comparison D3 is pretty flat, there is one activity, get better items. Just compare the blandness of the D3 gem system to the richness of D2's runewords.
I'll also add in that the items themselves are bland, boring and disposable. I'm coming up on I think 200hrs playing D3 and have yet to seen a set item drop. What is up with that? Sure they said they didn't want you in a situation where by the time you collected a set you far out levelled it but this is ridiculous. You finish D2 and you have a nice mixture of blues, rares, uniques and set items and because of the way the stats worked high level items weren't always just automatic upgrade. You might keep that unique sword for like 20-30 levels because it has INTERESTING stats on it that benefit your build.
In other words your items meant something to you, you were stokked when you got a really nice item and you became attached to said item. Ok so maybe if legendaries weren't so shit you may have gotten a similar feeling when you got one of those but the problem comes back to item scaling. Because your character it too heavily influenced by items it means the life span of those items is very short, especially weapons. So picking up a legendary weapon even if it was good for that level will be crap a few levels later.
So pretty much every item in the game at the moment is about power, pure and simply but the way I see it they should only be slightly about power but more importantly they should have been about choice. Having interesting affix's which could change your playstyle to suit your desires.
I tend to agree with Snow on this whole aspect...

Picked up 7 legendery items so far they all just went to the vendor since they where so underpowered.
