You say the entries are basically the same? Which entries? And you were first, with what and what picture? And you and which user? Did you post the same comments and threads exactly as another user, but you were first?

And you noted this in his thread or just waited after the announcement ?

Considering there were dozens upon dozens of threads and no way that I was going to read them all, it was only discovered after the comp. It makes me think that those judging the winners of the comp probably didn't read all the entries. Pity I couldn't copyright my idea.
