I've created my two characters :) It seems that if you choose Elyos or Asmodean you can't create the opposite down the line ... although it probably only applies to a particular server I would think.
Haven't been able to test the theory - but rumour has it the game is going live tonight for the people that have the pre-order and the client - so I will give it a shot then.
I created on the Gorgos server :)

I think Gorgos sounds like the better option too. It seems most of the SA okes are making Elyos characters. I'm still keen for my Asmodian Assassin. Although a ranger must also be pretty rocking!

Hmm, the Perento server is also looking pretty enticing at the moment. They seem to be getting quite a lot of good PvP going there.
I just really want a fairly active community, Medium Load would be great, with a decent community that is not full of the immature scum that can infest this genre.

*Oh, I find paying a monthly fee for these games to be totally worth it. If you are the kind of person that likes these kinds of games and are willing to put in a lot of time, it is SO worth the money.
I have noticed that a lot people that are against it will not solely focus on their chosen MMORPG, and will only play about 3-10hrs a week. If that is the case then it is certainly not worth it. Also when comparing P2P MMO models to F2P, in the vast majority of cases the P2P games come out on top in many areas such as variety.*
To be fair - you get what you paid for.
I played WoW for about 15 months ... at +/- R160 p/m, which sounds a lot. But it's about the same price as your average joe's drinks bill twice a month. And I can damn well assure you average joe is not getting 4.5hrs _A DAY_ enjoyment out of it like I got from WoW.
Aion seems to be 1/3rd cheaper in subs than WoW - so I won't mind it at all.

Good P2P MMO's have so much content that there is no way, even if you spend 10+hrs a day, to actually get through it all. I disagree with Guild Wars not having long term appeal. When you have all three campaigns and Eye of the North, that is so much content to get through it's scary. Add to that the fact that many spend most of their time in PvP, the number of professions available to try out, the number of titles to collect, holiday events etc. and eish...so much to do!
I think Guild Wars just comes across as an MMO-lite as they don't force you to go through the lengthy process of levelling alts like other MMO's.
It is relative.
One can always find an abundance of content in almost anything given ones nature. For me, and 3 of my friends, we all roughly felt the same, but I can understand why people love Guild Wars and play it so much. It just did not appeal to me as much as say the Level and Gear-centric MMORPG's.
Well ... Aion had their pre-launch thingy going last night at 9pm ... servers were flooded within about 10 minutes of them going active.
NCSoft account management went down as well - so I couldn't apply my ingame items to my character either - by the way, you can only apply them to a single character, so you better make sure you make it count :)
In any case, I tried logging on to Gorgos and landed in a queue of about 600 with an hour and 34 minute waiting time ... Spatalos was even worse, 1,400 people waiting.
So I gave up, will give it another try tonight.
