Oh dear me...
I'll be taking my time with this one. I still have guild wars on the side and I don't want to get caught up in the MMO rat race like WoW again.
Gorgos still appeals to me as a peaceful server to lurk on.
Any links to server info?

Yeah read all about the server issues yesterday. I think the best place to get some info on how the servers are doing would be: http://www.aionsource.com/forum/european-server-forums/
And I agree with you Voicy, do not rush.
I knew there would be issues with the servers, and this is not even the official release. From what I understand they are trying to limit the amounts of people logging in to try keep problems at a minimum, since everyone will be in the starter zones.
They said they will be upping the queue for logging into servers however, since at the moment there are more people wanting to log in than the queue can handle. This is happening on all the ENG servers from what I can see.
The thing is - people can't be mad at them for this. It's the birth of an MMO - it's only natural that it would suffer from a drastic surge of new accounts logging in.
If they were to make it fluent by allowing login by location (i.e. SA users get to log in on thursday only) then there would be a way bigger stink. So okes must just relax.
Here is a nice link on server stats atm:
http://uk.aiononline.com/livestatus/server/
Wow! Some interesting server stats there!
It seems everyone wants to be either a Gladiator or a sorceror...
I'm glad to see the Assassin class is right at the bottom of the list.
Yeah it kind of confuses me >_<
Now I am reconsidering my choice as a Sorcerer.
Curse my indecisiveness!!!
But then again this is only early start data, will likely look a lot different after release.
Ye I was pondering Gladiator as well - but I'll stick with Assassin :)
I'll roll a gladiator alt though. I'm not a huge fan of spell casters. Even though I'm loving my Ele on guild wars...
Pity .... I played with the sorceror class in the Beta and really enjoyed it ... I've always been a spellcaster at heart. And in the Beta sorcerer seemed like one of the lesser played classes.
In any case, you'll be free to create more characters now - the limit of 2 doesn't apply anymore - to test my theory I logged into one of the German servers briefly and created a new char.
By the looks of things, even if you are Elyos on one server, you'll be able to create an Asmodian on the other - you're basically limited to one particular faction per server. This wasn't a factor in the beta releases, but it definitely counts now.
i need to redownload the client saai
Pretty much the same as was evident on WoW ... to stop spying and cross faction communication
Think I will make a Chanter, Sorcerer and a Gladiator and see which pans out best.
I am at ease in most roles, but I do love the classes that need a lot of attention to perform well.
Once they fix the Spiritmaster I am sure it will likely be my main. It sounds like a great class that is let down by some really dumb design like - A Pet reliant class that cannot use a pet in flight? Since a lot of PvP is in flight, well, ouch. Also a DPS class that heavily relies on DoT's for DPS in a game where the same DoT's do not stack!? But the Crowd Control it has seems amazing, plus its versatility seems pretty good (when on the ground and the only SM in a group).
If you were closer I'd have given you my copy :(
I messed around with the SM a bit during the beta. A bit different from a Spirit Master/Spammer in Guildwars :pQuote:

In any case, not a class I'm entirely comfy with - although in the area's you can fly it was useful to have the spirit distracting the mobs while I beat a hasty retreat.
Still, the playing style in Aion is very, very different to that in Guildwars - so I'll need a little getting used to it. I'm not a fan of PvP ... so I'll ignore that particular facet of it for now.
I am more of a PvE person myself to be honest, but I am also a huge fan of open PvP if it is done in a dynamic way. I like how the elements will supposedly be mixed - the whole PvPvE aspect.
I have yet to play Aion to be honest, but I am pretty sure it plays similar to say the WoW yard-stick dynamics. Because of that I know I will get comfy with it pretty fast.
Anyways confirmed with BTgames today that they received their copies, and that they will be ready for the 25th. Just hope they do not screw me over with my CE, because then they are in for a scene in store...
I'm definitely playing tonight. I don't care how - but I'm getting onto my server so I can start leveling my two gorgeous girls. I'll try and take some screenshots so you can drool and be jealous :p
Take2 also deducted my CC payment this morning and updated the ETA on their site - which is now the 25th. I'll probably only get it on Monday though, since I'm having it delivered.
I ordered my normal copy last night - still received no notification mail that the order was approved. :(
So we all going Gorgos Elyos then? I am easy to be honest.
I'm going Gorgos Asmodian Assassin...
Read the faction description I posted. The Elyos are a bunch of snobby angelic beings who had everything handed to them and think they're so pretty just because lady luck smiled upon them, where as the asmodians were dealt a raw deal and basically forced into planetary exile and frowned upon as if they are lesser beings.
I'mma kick me some Elyos inna panty!
sounds like a plan, stan! :D
Your name isn't stan is it? That would be kinda cool.
actually it is...
actually it isint (for real)
OK, so I will indeed be joining ya'll in Aion!
Care to bring me up to speed? Which server and faction?
Gorgos server - Asmodian.
Omg i feel like such a CHOP
Started redownloading last night, wake up this morning. Sweet 8GB downloaded last night, time to pause.
What? I HIT CANCEL INSTEAD OF PAUSE!!!??? OMFGWTFBBQHAXORZNUBROFLCAKES!!!!!!!!!!
Stan you noob! :p
K so like ... what version will the retail copy ship as? & What patches do we need to get beforehand?
Everything is automatically updated via the NCSoft Launcher.
I'm on Gorgos as well ... Elyos faction.
If you're gettting the retail version, you should get it fully updated - although there was a 30 odd meg update towards the end of last week.
So it shouldn't pwn your server.
I was thinking ... do you guys want me to create the Aion FAQ and General Discussion threads - or does someone else want to take care of those.
I guess I can, since it seems I am the most keen for this game - running all over with research. Thing is I am not too much in a rush until I have played at least a week or so to get a really good idea about things. So far all I have is information and no hard experience (but that will change fast on the 25th).
So apparently it's shipped with 1.5, but there is a 500MB odd patch released on live day.
Shadowfox - I see there's a huge Elyos following on the 'tard servers, so it'll be cool to have you on Gorgos with us. :)
If you're not keen to play Asmodian with us, then having a Public Relations Officer on the other faction is not a completely bad Idea...it might even serve as quite a bit of fun when organizing pvp events.
I remember back in WoW a hordie came onto our clan site and requested a duel against me. We met in the gurubashi arena and there were about 40 horde / alliance players sitting next to each other to watch the event. It was actually classic.
As for Aion FAQ's...
I asked Tincan if they could make an Aion/Guild Wars sub forum, but it does not appear to be fruitful right now. If you've played the Beta etc, and feel up to the challenge - by all means. Go and make a FAQ corner!
It took me most of my sick day to write up the "Voicy's Epic WoW Guide" for the noobs. So have fun :p
Oh joy :( Will need to see if we can get that patch hosted somewhere.
Excuse the double post (me and double posting lately :o)...
So can we please have a tally of who all plans on playing on Gorgos as Asmodian?
Good luck with that ... I've asked Tincan for a poll, but no.
Tincan ..
anyway - count me in as one.
number 3 :p
I am really between here.
I have been reading forums everyday. I know I will not go near Spatalos, that's for sure. For me it is between Gorgos - which is the unofficial RP server, and Perento - which seems to be a pretty hardcore PvP server (know of the guilds joining there and how seriously they take PvP).
I am very much leaning towards Perento since this game is largely based around the Abyss and PvP. Having a very active, and very competitive environment, which Perento seems to have, will make for a lot of fun I think.
As for sides, I am totally flexible now, but still Love Mah Asmodians!
Thoughts?
No harm in doing it now though, since we're all new to the game and we'll be learning our way into it.
It would be nice - although I'm much more in favour of Elyos on a personal level. Also, I'm not sure if I will be able to create an Asmodian character on the Gorgos server now - having an Elyos char makes it impossible.Quote:

The only way to find out would be to delete all my characters - and if I do that and find out I can't create an Asmodian ... well ... it would be a waste of note.
Especially since two of my characters already have a bit of work put into them.
I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to be scaling into PvP just yet - not a huge personal fan myself (which ruled out Perentos to start with), and I'm not going to be joining any legions any time soon. And since I'm still actively running my guild on Guildwars, I won't be creating my own legion either (don't even know what the requirements are).
If any of you end up on Gorgos feel free to add me to your friends list (press V for the social box :p) - my three character names are Lumiere, Makie, and Hazumu. You might have to add all three, from the looks of things friends-lists don't carry between characters, although I'm not hundreds on that one.
