The situation in Australia is totally retarded. How hard can it possibly be to introduce a new mature ratings tier? This is a blatant case of conservatives and self-appointed moral authorities stymying the system to their own ends.
The aussie system is stupid. Valve has no chance of getting this over turned with no 18+ rating in aus there's no way they will get the game released.
I reckon its because of that whole racial saga that went down and now Aus are bitching and moaning... now they dont want any part of this game, which i think is honestly ridiculous... alot of games in the gaming industry include some form of violence why would they ban this game of all games
It's not that the game is banned as such, sycogrim. It's a little more complicated than that.
Due to some absurd twist in their ratings system, Australia has no provision for any rating higher than 15+. So any game rated exclusively for audiences older than that cannot be classified according to Australian ratings law. The game itself isn't actually banned, but instead simply denied a ratings classification, meaning it can't be distributed and/or sold legally anywhere in the country.
It's all the more ridiculous given that there's no problem classifying mature rated films in Australia.
I'd love to hear Yahtzee's perspective of this (since hes an auzzie)
They think gaming is only for kids...
Gamers avg 30years or older :/
One of their politicians says games are different since they are for kids and interactive. Apparently films and books are for adults so that's different.;)
At moment its still legal to own the banned games. So people will be getting through steam via gifting and importing it.
