well done, he was born in 2000 bc
you are up Eugene
You saw me where I never was and where I could not be. And yet within that very place, my face you often see. What am I?
Your reflection in the mirror?
Have to run off, so if I'm right, someone else can have a go
Can I have a go?
Three gods A, B, and C are called, in some order, True, False, and Random. True always speaks truly, False always speaks falsely, but whether Random speaks truly or falsely is a completely random matter. Your task is to determine the identities of A, B, and C by asking three yes-no questions; each question must be put to exactly one god. The gods understand English, but will answer all questions in their own language in which the words for ‘yes’ and ‘no’ are ‘da’ and ‘ja’, in some order. You do not know which word means which.
So, what will you ask?
I have no idea, for the sake of the thread maybe explain it FP
Well, that's not what I wanted to hear:p
It is quite a tricky one and I must say, it took me a while to understand the answer. I did not figure it out myself.
The aim is to find out who Random is.
Q1: Ask B: "If I ask you 'is A random', would you say ja?"
- If he says ja:
- B is TRUTH and A is RANDOM
- B is RANDOM
- If he says da:
- B is RANDOM
- A is not RANDOM
Now we have found a god which is NOT RANDOM: A or C
Now ask the non-RANDOM god the next question:
Q2: "If I asked you 'are you false', would you say ja?" Please refer to the quote at the bottom of the post
- If non-RANDOM says ja:
- then he is FALSE
- If non-RANDOM says da:
- then he is TRUTH
So, up to now we figured out the identity of either A or C as TRUTH or FALSE.
Now for the 3rd question to the same god as in Q2:
Q3: "If I asked you 'is B RANDOM', would you say ja?"
- if he says ja:
- then B is RANDOM
- if he says da:
- then the god you have not spoken to is RANDOM
So we know the identity of A or C and with Q3 we just established the identity of B or the other god. Now we can deduce what the identity of the 3rd god is.
The riddle clearly states that "each question must be put to exactly one god"Quote:

I hope this makes sense...I had to go through it a couple of times before I agreed with the answer...
