You are are mostly correct. There is just one small difference, You should only take from 9 bags, but the method of numbering and then removing that amount from each bag is absolutely right. Congrats, you're up :D

That is some scary cool maths, impractical in the real world but very clever.
I still can't see someone ripping open bags so he can only use the scale once as opposed to just using the scale though.

A horse travels a certain distance each day. Strangely enough two of its legs travel 30 miles each day and the other two legs travel nearly 31 miles. It would seem that two of the horse's legs must be one mile ahead of the other two legs but of course this can't be true. Since the horse is normal how is this situation possible?
