You must be playing on the wrong servers. I've never experienced this "terrible lag". To answer your question though, no there are no local servers.

I really wouldnt count on it , Valve wants to keep a close eye on their servers , ruling out mweb etc hosting one. And unfortunately our community is too small :(

When in game type -ping see what your latency is or if your getting packet loss. If you are connecting to EU , you should get between 200-300 ms
Then something is definitely wrong with your setup. You should see barely any lag really. I the average human reaction time is around 215ms, so 200ms latency shouldn't be breaking your game.Quote:

What line do you have? Sounds like a bandwidth problem. Either that or it's an FPS (read PC) problem and you need to upgrade your gfx card or lower you in game settings.
