Choose Your Own Adventure

For a bit of fun and nostalgia, I thought we could start up a "Choose Your Own Adventure" thread. Here's a chance for you to put that creativity and "game ideas" to use.

How it will work: I'll start off the story with a bit of introduction and establish the character and to some extent the genre. Each post will be a "page" in this CYOA book. At the end of your post you can either put:

Turn to page ... and the next person continues the story

Or you can give a choice e.g. Turn to page ... to steal the pork or Turn to page ... to leave it.
The next person posting will then decide which choice they made.

When adding a post it's best to post "Next" so as to reserve your spot and then edit the post with what you wanted to say.

Aside from that go wild - add twists, change genres, whatever - we'll see where this ends up.

Maybe later we can add skill-checks and "dice rolls" if we want.

The Story will begin in the next post.

The Last Villain of Infelm

A faint drip, drip, dripping echoed through the Halls of the Underground King. The caves were cool, and mostly quiet. Just the way you liked it. You had lived your whole life here in the murky depths, as one of the cautious goblins. It was a peaceful life, yet often boring. Many times you dreamed of creeping up to the surface, to see the burning world of which you'd heard in tales. Now your curiosity had grown too great to suppress, it was time to risk it all and go "upstairs".

Your mind made up, there was only one more thing to decide. Which forbidden tunnels would you take to get to the surface?

Page 54

Your flawed prudence wins the internal struggle as you decide to take the Narrow Path, for some reason, you'd rather brave the dangers of the surface once you actually reach the surface. In what seems like moments later you may just regret your choice as you hear distant, subtle screeching, followed hollow thumps reverberating around the tunnel.

A conundrum has just presented itself to you. Do you hurry on your intended in the hopes to evade whatever's lurking around the narrow path you've taken? Or does curiosity get the better of you, and you decide to find the source of the sounds, it can't be that bad, right?

Page 66

After realising you actually meant to take the Way of The Dead, you decide to turn back, but before you do that you walk towards the side path leading towards the sounds. The path gradually gets narrower and you feel as if you are making a bad mistake, but you continue further until you are faced with a large wooden door, inlayed with ornate carvings depicting your Ancestor's ritualistic practices, long since forgotten.

Turn to page 90 to inspect the carvings more closely

Turn to page 10 to open the door

Page 90

You look at the carvings, your brow creased in concentration. The images depicted are frightening, scenes of torture and death. One image in particular catches your eye. There is a recess in the shape of some talisman. It appears that to open the door you'd need to find the talisman that fits the recess.

You turn back along the way you came.

At this point you're fascinated by the intricate carving, and you decide to give the carvings a closer inspection. As you move closer to inspect the carvings, entranced by their beauty and level of detail, you notice what may be the quick movement of an entity or shadow in the periphery of your vision.

As you turn back to glance at what may be a figment of your imagination, you hear faint murmurs of words spoken in a language you can't seem to decipher, eschewing all logic, stark terror taking control of you, you hurriedly struggle with the door before it basically flies open and...

Good idea. I edited my previous post after seeing you had already done that page. I'll update the OP
