Hi guys
I moved over to windows 8. At first it was hard to use but got used to it and love it some keys to the OS that are really cool. But at some points it throws errors and memory dumps for no reason. Doing the searching thing i saw a lot of people with the same issues.
Now my fail is do i really want to struggle with this OS or go back to win7.
Anyone else using win8 having the same issues?
I have found for my wife's laptop it works well, haven't seen any errors. But for my gaming desktop i have stuck with Win7. I personally don't like using Win8
i kinda like it but my big beef atm is The drivers are all OS based. My GPU is Nvid drivers. The OS works awsome but last night in the SC2 game crashed for no reason. Then went on again and was fine. PC stays on all night for Downloads watching movies fine then when i tabed from game to desktop and desktop to game crashed again. never had a issue like this before with 7.
Just dont feel like dealing with this if it carries on.
Other wise using win8 got used to it.
Just go back to 7 for the time being. Win 8 has a number of irritating "features" and exhibits some strange behavior on certain systems.
MS has really had hit-and-miss luck with the Windows OS.
- Win 95 was ok
- Win 98 was crap
- Win 98 SE was incredible (for the time)
- Win ME was a disaster
- Windows XP was beyond incredible
- Vista was interesting to say the least
- Win 7 is still great
- Win 8 not so much
- Win 8.1 from what I can see so far looks fantastic
I have to say that I've been enjoying Windows 8. I haven't been experiencing the same issues as you, and gaming has been smooth for me.
I will say though at work has given me a Windows 8 tablet to test, and my goodness how amazeballs it is. Windows 8 is clearly built for tablets and touch, and it works a charm on them. Using the Ativ Smart PC has been a joy the past 2 weeks. But on PC the same things that makes it amazing for touch, doesn't really translate that well. Still, once you're accustomed to using it with a mouse and keyboard it's fine.
what i will do is test if for a bit if it crashes again i will install win7 then wait till windows 8 has mobo drivers for my PC
Tried 8 when it came out, but got a lot of errors on mostly my older games. (Homeworld 2, Dungeon keeper 2 and so on)
Tried again with 8.1 Preview and found that most of my problems where gone, even above mentioned games issues. Installed 8.1 Proper last weekend and still as happy as can be.
Only gripe is ModernUI but thats easy to get rid of with Classic shell.
I dont use it for my work PC or gaming PC. But my wife has it on her laptop and she loves it. Its very different so I struggle sometimes to find my way around, but I think it would just be a matter of putting time into learning it.
takes around 15 min to learn how to use it. If you know short cut keys you can work around with it. But its not that hard as it looks.
