Anybody else notice the Roads in the North - I suspect a City might be added there. Got a metropolis layout.

Anybody else notice the Roads in the North - I suspect a City might be added there. Got a metropolis layout.
LOL!! I almost did the same thing but it seems the other thread is more a DayZ Mod thread.
@Stunt: The north is usually a high PvP area in the mod and covered with towns and helicopter crash sites. (This depends on the server you are on but usually the norm.) At the moment there is not much way up north.
I just really want to see this:
"We absolutely plan to have more zombies. To cope with the current total dynamic entity count of over 10000 we have had to make a great deal of optimizations. If loot is completely removed, we can easily run 4000 zombies in our debug builds. In the new year we will be optimizing the way we handle dynamic objects (such as loot) a great deal more which should give us significant savings - but the change was considered too risky to be done prior to alpha launch. If we had problems, we would have delayed the project further by months."
I have rust, it's a great game, but I want to jump in and play a few hours and leave.
I DO NOT want to to log in to a game where I have been murdered in my sleep and my house raided and must now try harvest resources to make weapons at peak times.
I do not want to play late at night to raid other peoples houses (Although I see the HUGE appeal in that;))
The greatest Pleasure for me in DayZ is finding loot and that insanely tense feeling when you loot a military base wondering if someone is around the corner.
I have played both and the way I see it DayZ is a job friendly game, Rust not so much.
But alas I'm shocked at clocking 45 hours in less than a week, I's so hooked on this game, it's pretty awesome. With all the KOS going on and the backstabbing I am so tense and paranoid in game.
Even if some one states they are friendly you CANNOT trust them I'm afraid, It's every man for himself.
Yesterday I was hold up in the north east airfield and some one was outside, he was friendly and asked for a cease fire, I had geared myself to the best point I have been in ages(especially the pristine zoomed scope for my m4 and wasn't about to risk loosing it all)Ihad my crosshair pointed at the door and simply said "Please do not come in, I'm pretty tense and I might shoot if you enter', Needless to say I stared at that door for 10 very long minutes and he didn't come inside.
Smart man.
Yep. I am just saying that in the Mod it is very populated, with the success of the Mod they will probably try to mimic that in the SA.
Sadly map expansion is not high on the list of todo's at the moment.
I ran all the way west a few days ago looking for the edge of the map. There seems to be none.
I ran for about 30 minutes after I reached the "end" of the map and it seemed to go on forever. ^_^

@Joy-Energiser: If you are looking for someone to run with in DayZ that will not stab you in the back, give me a shout. Sadly due to the KOS my way of playing has also changed a lot. These days I camp out in the treelines and keep an eye out for people that KOS. Then I track them, kill them and teabag them. I also saw two noodz punching it out. I tried to break up the fight by offering them food but they both turned on me. T_T had to gun them down.
A mate of mine who played the mod and is now playing the Day Z alpha says the standalone game is like chalk and cheese when compared with the mod. Can anyone confirm this?
Okay cool, if I have some spare cash later on down the line I'll buy a copy. I should've bought one already given how a friend of mine has been nagging me to play.
Ok, this might be off topic. but I would like to know before I buy this game, would it run on my Laptop.
Ive got the ASUS ROG Gaming one
Specs:
I7-2630QM 2.0GHz
8GB Ram
GTX 460M 1GB
Windows 7 64-bit
I play DayZ Mod but its hogs my system I need to scale down from 1600x900 to 1280x720 on medium to play it without lag.
Would be nice to know as ive read reviews and checked online to make sure I can play it but i just want to make 100% sure.
Thanks
A friend of mine plays his on a PC with a 2.9ghz dual-core CPU with a GTS450 and 4GB ram, and he has to set everything to low to play it smoothly. I guess in your case it would depend on how well the mobile GTX460M compares to a desktop card like the 450.
How is the new patch that was released? Anything worth it and interested..
New patch this morning, but you lose your stuff the moment you log out. I tested in various ways and everytime I log out and back in I have a new char with new clothes at a new location. Nothing saved. even when logging in and out of the same server.
I've tested some more and found that international servers save progression, but the local ones are buggered. Anyone kind enough to test this for me ;)
I have found something interesting to explain my loss of character and character progression.

@Joy, please rather edit your post instead of posting a new post every time you have something to add.
Double posts, not to mention triple posts, aren't good forum conduct and looks like spam.
Atleast they're adding content and fixes at a steady pace, in a couple months the game should be pretty epic.
Edit:
Im not sure if anyone read Rockets Reddit AMA, but IGN has a decent summary here:

Looks like the game will be awesome if we give it abit more time.
Cant wait... going to get this game at the end of this month.
Sigh, so tempted but also will be so angry with myself if I spend R300 on a POS.
Well after having my 1st go at the game this weekend, I can honestly say the SA community in this game is fucking retarded.
Shoot on site, no one helps anyone, guy befriends you, waits for you to turn around then shoots you..Kinda like SA is in real.
Other than that, the game is pretty awesome, Enjoying it a lot although I try not to play when servers are full.
My second encounter with another player was when he ran up from behind and hit me with a shovel. Fortunately I was able to run away (all I could do since I had no weapons) and bandage myself up. Hopefully when they are able to up the zombie count the world will be more dangerous thus forcing people to work together.
Haha yeah, if you run into my group you should be fine, we don't shoot on sight. Did you by any chance play the DayZ mod? If yes I have a follow up question. :)
Had some crazy encounters this weekend. A gun fight that ended amicably, a surprise stick up on a buddy that ended with me sniping the bandit in the ass and my bud getting away and one where I got handcuffed by some dude who then went outside to find a guy who was taking pot shots at him earlier, when I hear two shots go off and a new guy coming into the building and headshotting my restrained ass.
Good times. :)
One can only hope lol, but I doubt it. I try to make it a rule not to shoot anyone that is not armed but if your running around with you gun out soz buddie you are getting shot not taking any chances. But it's not all bad ran into a group of 4 guys all fully kitted and they didn't shoot had a little chat got some food and we went our separate ways so the good guys are out there even though they are in the minority. The problem with the alpha is there is not much of an endgame takes about 30 min to get fully kitted and then all that remains is the pvp so hopefully in time with more content that will change only time will tell.
Sadly this seems to be that standard on ZA servers at the moment. I have a group of about 9 people that I play with now that is trust worthy and if you need your back covered we are there. ^_^
The last few times we played together after about 3 hours all the bandits left the server. We kept on patrolling the beach front helping out people that just spawned and killing every bandit we could find.
So I've just joined the DayZ family this weekend. I didn't have the best start. Died a lot, very quickly. but I'm getting the hang of it now, I think. I just hope my current character survives long enough to get to where my friends are. (Damn the map is huge)
Is there any way to contact the guys hosting the local servers? We really need more than one 24/7 daytime server, cuz its always full and those that work during the day are then stuck playing at night which is no fun.
