Im sorry?! What! You can not compare a R5000 PC with a PS3. A PS3 cant run anything other than ps3 games. If you want to buy a pc on which you can game properly you are looking minimum 9k. But then you have to weigh the price of PS3 great and games with that of a PC.
All in all i think you should decide what to do you want. You going to be mostly gaming then go for the PS3. If your going to be other stuff also then go for the PC.
Why not just get both :)
*sigh* please include the price of a Full HD TV and surround sound system when quoting the price of a PS3/XBOX360 because everyone always used the single cost of the console to compare against the cost of a complete PC, always casually forgetting the REQUIREMENT for a HD Television and Surround Sound System
And a PC cant run PS3 or X360 games.
Perhaps there's a budget to consider?
Or you could just use a normal tv, and surround sound isn't a requirement either. But for comparison, I have a 22" LCD that I paid R3000 for (although the price for a similar screen is now about R1700), as well as surround sound I paid R1700 for.
so R4299 PS3 + R1700 screen + R1700 surround sound = R7699
Perhaps you can go the PC upgrade path and get a gaming PC cheaper than that, and be able to play startcraft 2 etc, but then, you don't get to play Uncharted 2 etc on it. So decide on what games you prefer.
what i meant is what pc specs performance wise.
Just the console vs pc box cause I already got a nice full HD screen. no budget just the hardware specs will get my own prices on the hardware.
I speak under correction here but if you have the money, you can make a pc gaming rig that is much more powerful than a ps3/xbox.
There are pros and cons to both sides. I have both and choose which titles i play on which platfrom.
For example, i played Batman AA on full specs on pc and play Fifa 2010 on my PS3.
Having a console does open you up to another side of gaming which a pc can't offer.
Also there's a huge market for 2nd hand console games if you look around;)
I think the main question here would be "what kind of games do you like?"
