No.
Unfortunately I am one of those few took it that way.

The word is "faggot." So if you were going to try your darndest to use that word in a puerile attempt to provoke me, the least you can do is learn to spell it correctly.
You're trying really hard right now, aren't you?Quote:
Ooooooohhhhhhh.... Look what he just said. Discrimination carries through all works and fields, to try and limit it to your own standards is immature. To presume that calling me a boozer is without any ill nature, is even more proof of what an idiotic buffoon you really are and not to mention, how removed you are from understanding social equality.
As a fag, I can quite happily declare that there is a difference--you'll note how you've tried to provoke me with that word numerous times in one post and failed repeatedly because, unlike you, I CAN tell the difference based on context and don't have a persecution complex overriding my common sense.Quote:
If you are going to respond with how fag and boozer are different, you have a lot to learn - I suggest you get to it.
Wake the fuck up.
So...potato?
Keep trying, perfection is still out of reach :D
Not entirely untrue, yet in comparison to other forums, MyG is a very friendly place to new members. And I'm not just referring to the BigBrother on the other side of the server room.
I felt comfortable from the start when I first joined which I can't say for all other forums. Yes, my head did get shat on for doing things that is not acceptable here, but I learned from my mistakes and made sure that I don't get caug... didn't repeat them. Like any place, there are rules of conduct here. It is also expected of senior members to guide new members and some are more adapt at being tactful than others. That is part of life; not everybody is in a good mood every day. A lot of the senior members are also TK regulars, so that is where your "elitist" perception may originate.
That is very unfortunate since I am 100% sure it was not the intention. The style of the articles have been to refer to the respondents under the majority choices even thought there are large chunks of people that don't fit there (Gamers don't smoke, Gamers are not Virgins etc). The idea behind it, I think, is to end the series with a "This is what the average gamer in SA looks like" article.
I don't entirely understand yourself and Stunt's reaction to it, but I can't in all honesty fault you guys either.
The problem I have with this is that some people (looking at you, Stunt and some guys on MyBB) is now using this issue to dish out insults and raise other issues that is unnecessary.
Knowing you from the forums (both here and there) I am glad, but not surprised that you didn't partake in the personal mud slinging.
I think it's his fullest right to be offended if he choose to do so. It is also his right to voice his concern and opinion about it. If a persons offence is not hurtful to others, where is the harm? We may not understand their reasoning but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be at least partially understanding to their views.
I think it is only once your offence is hurtful to others (racist, homophobic, sexist etc) that it is a problem.
Been lurking in this thread a bit and I have to say I think everyone overeacted a "bit" over this whole article about demographics, and have taken this far beyond what it was supposed to be.
Just one question, why is everyone so worked up? We're all members here for the same reason, and some of us even share personal experiences together. It's quite a tight-knit bunch, but that does not mean we have to always defend our opinions and views about things to the death, on a gaming forum.
I'm not saying there's something wrong with expressing yourself and your opinion, but why let it go past the stage of airing yours, and accepting others'. Just take it down a notch peeps...it's really not worth turning a platform for a civilized conversation into a messy mudfight.
Shit's always going to get messy; people are going to get personal, and IMHO, it's just not worth the trouble.
My 2c, for what it's worth.
Ooooh kay then. I have to say, I'm never one to keep quiet when I've been offended, but dang, I never viewed this thread as offensive in any way. Heck, I even admitted I like pink drinks and no one insulted me. I can't really see the offensiveness of this thread. It's a pretty interesting topic in my opinion.
Edit: It might be my Afrikaans background that is passively trying to protect these bunch of alchies. :D
