South Africa is going backwards under President Jacob Zuma's leadership, Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille said on Wednesday.

"Unfortunately, under Zuma there is corruption," she said.

"South Africa is much better than 20 years ago but sadly under... Zuma it is going backwards."

She was speaking to reporters after addressing residents of Block R in Soshanguve.
