Should I skip Assassins Creed 3 and play AC4

Quoting sales figures isn't exactly the best way to prove its a brilliant series though.

I agree with you on the sales figures not really speaking for the quality of a product. I didn't really mean that high sales automatically makes it a good series, my point was more that I am not the only person who loves the franchise and therefore probably not the only person who sees the differences between them and don't see them all as the same old glass of milk. The CoD franchise since MW2 (except maybe Black Ops) on the other hand... Although I will admit the new one looks different.

As soon as the AC franchise starts releasing bad titles I will stop buying them, but until then Ubisoft can milk it to their heart's content as I will probably buy every one of them.

If you enjoy the series, get part 3. You'll want to see how the plot of Desmond's arc comes to an end (even though we all know 2012 didn't happen:p). AC 3 might be a buggy mess and Connor can be annoying, but if you play Black Flag and seek out the collectables- trust me when I say that you'll wanna see how Desmond's story plays out

I do want to complete Desmonds story, maybe I will just do a quick playthrough.

Skip the naval missions then, AC IV is better in any case. You should also be able to skip the Homestead missions and assassin recruitment. That should save you some time.

AC Awesome setting, combat and acrobatics. Mind shattering story(Interactive DNA memories? Amazing! plus the reveal in AC2 literally flawed me)
They can milk this cow as much as they want. I can't see it getting old, especially if they remain as historically accurate as possible.
Also AC 3 had an awesome section with Desmond utilising what he learned through the Animus bleed effect and he gets into a boss fight!

I had no bugs in my play through but did have a fairly big update to dl so guess its all sorted.

Assassins Creed 3 focused too much on the hunting and what not, although you need to play all of them to understand the full story.

They are really milking the franchise.. A modern day AC is what we need to keep the interest alive.

Play it man,no point skipping it,you get the feel and inside look into the lives of various cultured assassins.

exactly! i have gotten jaded with the mechanics now. Its become the same old gameplay, with a few gimmicks thrown in. I know i am in the minority here, but i really didnt like the inane "ship battles" from AC4

I'm only on Revelations now,but I do get a bit bored at times as the games are quite repetitive,kill this person,deliver that,sneak into there....sigh.
I want more plot and gripping storylines.
