I also bought Destiny 2nd hand from a guy yesterday and I really cannot get into it :/ Guess I will have it up for sale/trade soon
...and 100% on Titan Attacks, took about 2 - 3 hours of play and was done.
Up to chapter 14 on The Order 1886 so am getting close to the end. I think I've been playing over 10 hours already. I am now convinced game critics are becoming undeservedly harsh and I'll trust my instincts from now on when it comes to game purchases. I am absolutely baffled my the negativity surrounding this game having now spent most of my weekend playing it. It is a top notch (linear) action adventure and at least close to the quality of the Uncharted franchise. Graphics are amazing, gameplay is solid and enjoyable (and yes, cinematic) and I am loving the story/characters. It's no lower than an 8/10 for me right now, and I don't expect that to change by the end. It is most definitely way better than what I found Unity to be.
I just wanted to add onto what you have said. People and publications toss around the word "open world" way too much. For example FC4 is a open world game. You can do anything and go anywhere from the start but, you still have to follow a linear path in order to complete the story. The developers simply make it feel like you are given a choice by letting you choose what mission to do next.
That is about the only reason I can come up with for how this game has been received: every big AAA release of this generation has been an open-world title. People have grown so accustomed to endless side missions and time wasting they can no longer appreciate a game that doesn't have those things.
Yeah if one enjoys cinematic games like Uncharted I can't see why they wouldn't like this. Also hasn't felt like there have been too many cutscenes, but I might just not have noticed because with every cutscene I'm so engrossed by the graphics I don't time how long it's going on for.
Lol, I love this little game, only played till the second level so far, the moon i think... Love the old school arcade style...
Now this is what I wanted to hear... This game looks incredible... I think you have just convinced me its a good idea...
