I've been fence-sitting on grabbing a PS4 for a handful of exclusives (primarily of the JRPG persuasion) but these consoletards are so out of touch with reality. And who can blame them?

Yeah on top of that the PS4 keeps being put out there as this amazing 60fps 1080P console when its not.
It might reach 60fps once every 3 weeks yeah but it usually runs in the low 40's and a lot of the time is spent in the 30fps bracket.
They basically just lie and people eat it up...lol

Sony's just as bad as EA, Microsoft and Ubisoft. The End.

I honestly don't get why people make such a fuss over things like this. I get that it's really expensive and all that, but who cares? If you don't want to use it then don't. If you don't like consoles then don't buy one. If you don't like subscription services then don't use them.

I bought a PS4 to play games and it does that pretty well. I don't have time to get involved in the politics surrounding the companies that make the consoles and the games. I just want to play games. And I honestly couldn't be bothered by what framerate and resolution the game is running at, as long as I'm having fun it's all good. I played the first chapter of Witcher 2 when it came out at 640 x 480 and I was lucky if it hit 30FPS. That didn't stop me from enjoying myself.

I'm not defending Sony or anybody else for their business practices. I'm just saying that it doesn't affect me so I don't care about it. As long as a game looks fun/interesting enough I will buy it and play it, regardless of the politics surrounding it or the platform it runs on.

The main reason why people are making a fuss is because of Sony trashing EA when they wanted to offer a service like this for $5 a month. Less than 2 days later Sony announces the exact same thing at some insane pricing.

Hahaha. I understand all of that man and I agree that it is rather silly of them do diss EA and then announce something more expensive, but like I said I just don't care about either of them.

As long as I can play a game that I'm interested in and it works fine without causing me problems then I'm happy, the moment something about the game bothers or I have an issue with getting it to work properly I will stop playing it and move on to something else, at least for the time being so developers can patch the issues out or something.

For example I recently started playing Warframe again, but 3 times now the game has given me an error and started redownloading the entire game for some reason. It was annoying first, but now it has reached a point where I am no longer interested in the game, at least on PC. I really enjoyed the game and would love to play it again, but I not redownloading the game every 2 days because of some issue between steam and their own client. Will wait for the new update to come to PS4 and give it obe last chance.

Yeah as long as you're happy its fine but there are people actually defending this practice and claiming that Sony did everyone a favor by denying EA to implement their $5 thing. Honestly I think Sony just said fuck our customers we'll decide what's good for them and what's not. So now Xbox One has exclusive rights to the EA $5 thing. $30 for a year subscription is damn cheap considering most gamers are looking for cheaper options.

I definitely agree there, defending Sony and saying their doing gamers a favour with PS Now is just ridiculous. If they want the service to work as an alternative or better version of what EA is offering they definitely have to look at their rather stupid pricing model. Luckily it's still in beta and they are still only testing the water, nothing is set I stone yet.

So far Sony have done pretty much everything about the PS4 (and the PS3) the right way IMO, but this subscription service is just retarted they way it's priced now. I still don't think that makes them this greedy evil corporation, but that's just me. If they adjust the pricing (and the service is viable with our poor internet infrastructure) I might give it a try, but at the moment I am not interested so the prices don't bother me that much.

As for the EA thing, I'm not interested in that either since most of the games on offer are for sports titles and the only sport games I play are not developed by EA. So even if I did have an Xbone I probably would not have used it. The only reason I might have a slight interested in PS Now is because the PS3 & X360 were my first consoles so I missed out on a lot of great PS2 games.

I'm just really so sick of these bastard companies continually getting away with their shit.

Allow me a few moments to express my frustration with consoles in general and Sony in particular:

1. No backwards compatability.
2. With Sony, regardless of how many games you might own on PSN (as though this should even be a necessary qualifier), you cannot migrate your account's region, meaning that you need a new account if you want to continue to buy games. Of course, you can still play on your old account but fuck, really, who wants multiple accounts to do ONE FUCKING THING?
3. Performance is shit. Yes, shit. Whether loading, saving or entering a new area in a game, it takes ages.
4. You cannot download faster than maybe 5MB/s on a PS3 (and, from what I hear, PS4 suffers from the same trouble). But don't worry, that's okay, because it still downloads faster than it installs, which brings me to my next point.
5. It can take a 20+GB game about two hours to just install. That's acceptable?
6. You buy into its market environment, you have nowhere else to turn for deals, a bigger selection, etc. Can't find it online? Buy it from a store or an online retailer, assuming it can still be found. What's the point of PSN or this "digital age" again?
7. The misguided belief that it's simply "sit down and play." No, no--you have to wait a few hours for it to install, then wait for it to patch, then wait for it for it to create a "save state/profile" and then, while it loads up the game, go make yourself a cup of coffee.

Consoles are wonderful for Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo--you spend a small fortune on buying into their environment, handing over your freedom, your "user rights" and letting them tell you how much you should pay for something, how you should use it and then convincing yourself that you've made the best decision.

Their marketing departments spend a fortune trying to convince you that their console is the best, the most futuristic, advanced and performance-rich device on the market. Despite their content being limited, their libraries being invalidated with every new "generation," their pricing largely being preposterous (how, how can a game bought digitally cost MORE than in store? Oh, don't worry that's because ""First of all, we want to support a healthy retail channel, so it's not in our interest to go and seriously undermine retail." -- it's so nice of them to care about the old ways at the expense of the new).

Consoles don't advance the industry, they hold it back.

But the myths have been grounded in apocrypha:

• Consoles are easier (insert image of angry PC user).
• Consoles are more fun (insert image of group of people in a living room holding controllers with magazine smiles on their faces).
• Consoles are modern (insert image of neon lights and Dolby surround sound).

I am a gamer, sure. I love games; I don't care about platform wars. I do, however, strongly care about a hypocritical industry with a consumer base that is largely apathetic to the back-handed, two-faced nature of console environments that exist because you fucking idiots let them get away with it every single time you defend this bullshit.

Afterthought: Hmm... I may have gone off on a bit of a tangent here. Don't mind me :D

Let me start off by saying, I wholeheartedly agree that the pricing structure of PS Now is ridiculous... It makes absolutely no sense to charge those prices... I am however fairly certain that the prices are not dictated solely by Sony... and this is probably why the large price spectrum for the many different games. Now another thing to consider here is the cost of providing this service. from what I understand, and correct me if im wrong here, but there is no downloading of the game, there is no waiting, there is selecting, paying, and streaming... Am I the only one that thinks that's pretty cool? And its not like this is the only option that will ever be available. Im sure that, like with the PS3, you will be able to buy previous titles via the PSN on the PS4. With the size of games theses days, if you had to download every game you ever wanted to play, you would constantly be upgrading your harddrive to give you more space... I think streaming the games right to your PS4 is going to make the future of gaming incredibly interesting!

I am VERY disappointed in the lack of PS1 and PS2 titles on the service... The main reason I, like many im sure, was interested in PS Now, was for the nostalgia value of my childhood favorites...

So in closing, I think its going to be a great service, that still needs to have a lot of tweaking, mainly in the price department...
