Fantastic tip @Reavs, thank you. Never even crossed my mind to do that - at EUR40 drops the price down to R575.

It looks like it can be a truly great game, but it comes with a great deal of baggage. If you are okay with that and you are okay with the fact that the game might only be available for 6 months or a year before going F2P, and you are okay with them trying to force you into buying stuff to pay for their servers then get it and you'll enjoy the game.Quote:
Question I have now for him, and others who have more insight into the game than me, is simply this: If I do go ahead and click that "Buy Now" button, am I going to feel really, really bitter about spending GBP35/R630, or am I going to get R600's worth of entertainment out of it?
Some people don't care about the actions of the developer as long as the game is good, but to me personally I don't like it when developers do stuff that I don't agree with. They broke several promises and there are sure to be more promises broken on launch day.
Also: Not all features will be available on launch, some features will only be added later on. So make sure that you will be happy with the features available at launch because you will probably have to pay for the extra features...
Edit: Example1: One guy backed on Kickstarter for 300GBP after they had promised offline mode. They then made a creative decision to drop offline mode, not a forced decision, not a calculated decision, a creative decision. He then asked them for a refund and they offered him a refund of 70GBP. So they broke a promise and they expect him to take a 230GBP knock?
Example2: If you have played the alpha or beta at all, and you ask for a refund they subtract the cost of the alpha/beta from your refund amount even if you stopped playing the day that they announced that offline mode wouldn't be available - simply because alpha/beta was always going to be online-only... Are you happy buying from such a company?
Example3: On day 1-7 (roughly) of the kickstarter offline mode wasn't going to be included. They then noticed that they might just fall short of the goal and they added offline mode and they just made it through the funding threshold. Now if you ask for a refund, they look at when you backed the project, if you backed on day 1-7 they say offline wasn't on the table then so you can't get a refund because we dropped offline... All the while knowing that the funds only get deducted on the last day if the project is successfully funded and you can cancel your backing at any time unless it will result in them falling below the funding threshold. So somebody might have backed on day 1-7 hoping for offline (or backing so that he can comment on the kickstarter forum and ask for offline to be added), then see that offline was added and stick it out. Now he's getting punished for being an early-backer...
The launcher is annoying, patches require you to download the launcher and install and do the whole verification process.(Perhaps they will change it).I also really don't like the whole dota feel of last hit gets you the credits, Sometimes a dogfight goes for 10 minutes and you kill a target that is almost impossible to kill but an AI or human player comes through and spams all weapons and takes the kill it pisses you off.
The game itself is solid and actually has a steep learning curve due to the flight system concerning flight assist on/off and knowledge of dogfighting tactics (Some players are dam good). If you die and have no credits to afford the replacement ship you are stuck with the k*k sidewinder, listen its ok as a first ship but when you have done so many restarts due to lack of knowledge of how to play basics( that wasn't available earlier, but is now due to tutorial) it grinds you.
Its a heavy game to handle, every aspect from power management, heat management, bounty hunting, fleet war zones, Mining, Interdicting to pirate, Hyper jumping is a task on its on as you need to go here to get there kinda way, fuel management , trading (Trading), not getting into fights when you really cant afford to, retreating when you really have to, its truly in-depth...
But then once you have touch those aspects you feel kinda un-immersed for a moment, now this don't take it the wrong way, just you never get out of the cockpit, players I have interacted with either don't talk or talk after, you just feel alone. So im hoping that with an uptake there might be something more to it, im not sure if its dynamic as in you group up and travel together then does the bounty targets get higher, these things I don't know for sure, but if it was there and it gave a sense of Borderland like, then it would be awsum. Its got invoice chat and cool attachments for ships in its current form, it can be entertaining.
I really can't tell you its longevity, I have allowed 2 of my friends to try it out using my account and both of them didn't have the greatest time playing. Similar reasons came up like the flight system and the enemy, its honestly not for everyone.
At this point I wanna see what happens after release, who I can jam with, if it goes well then I'll pretty much play that till im sick of it or SC PU rocks up.
Thanks guys, I think you've made up my mind :(
The numbers and dwindling. My brother lost interest after recent events so i think i might join of those PvE groups on the forums.
That's a quote from the community manager... Funny how that could be if there are only a handful of refund requests as they have repeatedly hinted. Some people have been waiting for more than 3 weeks and haven't received any replies to their refund requests.Quote:
I don't think the intention was to insult anybody when David took that interview. I'm not sure which part of the interview you're referring to - could you point it out to me? Cheers!
Sorry you've been waiting a while for your refund - the support team are SWAMPED.

This poor guy was only offered a 65GBP refund on his backing of 320GBP - simply despicable.

So far I can confirm that at least 25 people have received partial or full refunds on the various sources that I am scraping.
I played the entire weekend of the new gamma release.
Really wanna tell people to buy it, I mean I honestly got hooked again, I ended up with 500 000 credits after this weekend and met up with a crew. I have to say it has expanded the game, we are currently trying to meet at SOL system, which is where earth as we know exist.
We wanna get all the big ships so we can atleast pull this off sometime:-
