Well now i hate you too[emoji13]. Good buy you guys got if your doing bounty hunting or missions that require bounty hunting. That ship is so quick and maneuverable compared to our vultures it just pisses me off.

Well this is my current build. Just need to find a 5A FSD to increase jump range to ~36ly

In pure combat a vulture still beats the DBX, though. The DBX is simply a better all-rounder(trading, smuggling, exploring etc), while the Vulture is the better combat ship. The Vulture is tankier and packs more heat (2 Large HP beats 1L and 2M).
Where the DBX is very good at is doing long range jumps, hitting its targets and then bugging out.
here's mine as accurate as I can remember it

Don't agree on that TBH.
Being as that I own one and have had many battles against the DBX. The DBX still wins hands down with the multi cannon.
Vulture has only 2 large hardpoints and 4 Utility points, where as DBX has 1X large hard point and 2 X Medium hard points and 4 Utility points.
I have on numerous occasions been in battles with a DBX and ended loosing thruster's or power plants due to the pure fact that a DBX can maneuver better than the Vulture. Even with 3x shield boosters the vulture is a sitting duck.
I don't agree at all. For what is essentially a flying tank, the Vulture is a very maneuverable ship. Unless you're trying to fit hull plates, which you shouldn't as they just weigh you down and your shields do all the tanking anyway. You might get hit more, but your high capacity shields means it doesn't matter.
In 1v1, a properly fitted Vulture will always beat a properly fitted DBX. The DBX just can't stay in the fight as long as the Vulture can. With the Vulture you can confidently take on Pythons and sometimes even Anacondas. I wouldn't get close to those in a DBX.
If you feel like a sitting duck in a Vulture then either you're weighing it down too much or you're not maneuvering properly.
Quite an interesting read; Dev Update (07/01/2016)
Man, there was a mission that would allow me to go directly to Knight Rank and I didn't take it. I can kick myself now. :<
The Diamondback is a MACHINE
fitted mine now with 3 beam lasers (not even the BIG ones yet) for bounty hunting and it pretty much makes any ship it's bitch now
Reset my save yesterday and hopped back on my trusty old Eagle. Kinda miss my old Type 7 now.
So, over the weekend I got stuck into Elite again, and my previous rage-y comments I will retract completely. Made some good credits from bounty hunting, and I love my Viper MKIII. I'm at a point that I can upgrade and buy a Cobra, but it doesn't seem all that worth while right now. I'm planning on hopping from system to system, doing bounty hunting runs and making money until I can afford either the MKIV Viper or something else.
Currently on my own, as I am a sad panda without anyone to play with. Well, Beo is there though.
I just thought of starting out in Solo mode to get a feeling for the game and to get a decent start. I'm not in the mood for some OP person coming and targeting a noob like me and hampering me from enjoying the game. The game itself did a good job at making me frustrated before I figured out how to start.
One thing about GTA is it has that never ending persona about it, you can always pick it up and have fun. But yes, finish the story at the very least.
Personally I am getting lost in Elite at the moment. Loving this game again. I haven't turned on my PS4 in like 2weeks. Also getting keen to starting afresh on the XBone.
Cool. I still have a 14day Gold code needing to be redeemed iirc.
So keen to get started on Xbone as well, but I've been getting together odds and ends and preparing for a personal expedition within the galaxy, and being on the brink of setting out makes me keep playing on PC.
Btw, If anyone is looking for a good PvE group to join then check out Mobius.
So, knowledgeable people of the Elite world, let's talk weapons. Currently I'm rocking sets of multi-cannons and pulse lazers on my ship, all gimballed. I find gimbal weapons easier as I just need to keep the target in my sights and pull the trigger. But, my travels have revealed that finding upgraded weapons for these types of weapons are either very difficult to find, or do not exist. I'm thinking of maybe swapping out my multi-cannons for normal cannons, as I see they have a higher DPS.
What you guys suggest?
Have a look the Razor fit. It's quite effective for a 500k refit.
Here's my current ship's loadout, all aimed at specifically exploring with a jumprange of around 27LY average. As I'm trying to keep it close to fellow commanders whom I am exploring with. One thing to note is that I do have a planetary landing module and 3 x SRVs in a module as well. Coriolis does not support that yet it seems.

And here's how I usually load up a vulture: http://coriolis.io/outfit/vulture/04...nius%20Vulture
Well, what ship are you running? Your power efficiency plays a big role in this. If you're only using it for combat, don't fit the best sensors or life support systems. They're a waste. Chances are if you're in a situation where your cockpit is at risk, you should have bugged out long before anyway.
Gimballed lasers are always a great idea. Especially if your ship is power efficient. I normally fit beam lasers but on a smaller ship these will likely kill your power draw. On my Vulture I have one Beam laser and one Cannon. The single BL uses very little power which means I dish out a continuous stream of damage. I only use the cannon to do insane damage to big ships at close range, switching back to the BL while I wait for it to reload. Lots of people swear by Multi-cannons, but I prefer my standard Cannon.
If you're flying a Viper you might fit one Flak and one Multi-cannon. The Flak is basically the shotgun of space combat and does great damage if you can get close to the enemy.
And here's when I had a Cobra mk4 for all of 2 hours I think...

I'd ditch the Hull Reinforcement packages, tbh. They impact mobility too much and your shield on a Vulture should be doing all the tanking anyway. I frequently take on Pythons and Anacondas in HazRez and I rarely have them get through my shields to damage my hull.
Edit: Oh I see you're using the new Bi-weave shield gen. I haven't tried a build with that yet, so maybe the Hull reinforcement is necessary in your case.
On another note, I sold off my Vulture and got an Asp Explorer for mission running. I'm currently doing long-range trading missions out of Fehu that pay about 500k - 1.5mil for a 400Ly run. It takes about 20 min and it generates a lot of rank.
Still pissed I didn't take that Knight promotion mission. It would have jumped me up 5 ranks instantly.
Sweet website!! I can't remember my full loadout off by heart, but I'll update my build and share you everyone andmockrecommend me what I should be building towards.
Thanks for the info. So I've got a Viper MKIII at the moment. I've upgraded pretty much everything except the sensors and life support as my current goal is to move from system to system doing bounties. So I've tried to keep my ship focused on combat and survival.
I've not come across a Flak cannon yet. Or perhaps, I may have but dismissed it immediately due to ignorance or lack of knowledge. Currently the 2 multi cannons and 2 pulse lasers are working for me quite well. I'm just thinking that I may be missing something, as I know I should be upgrading, but finding it difficult to understand to what.
That's funny, cos that's the only time I've needed the extra oxygen because of canopy breaks. But 10min is normally enough to bug out and return to repair.
Also, I'm not a fan of flak cannons, dispersion is too much and have to be right on top of the enemy to make it effective.
It all depends on your style of fighting. But keep in mind that D class modules are usually the lightest modules out there. So try and get D class sensors and oxygen if you can. And then B class modules are the heaviest for the performance you gain, so they are in my opinion rarely worth it.
I stay away from flaks as range is always an issue. All ships boost after all. Don't dis non-gimballed weapons though, as they do a lot more damage. And a direct hit with a rail gun can really make a ship bleed. I've tested this. With a large rail HP you can bring down 6A shields in 3 shots. That's 7 seconds total between reloads. Which means a clipper would steer clear of anyone with such a load out.
Such a pity you can't find a visual equivalent of the galaxy on the web. I want to plan my route or something offline, or even look for places to visit.
That's for sure. There are a couple that attempt it. But the fact remains that even in the civ bubble we still have not explored each and every planet / station / star that is available.
This might help you a little bit, but you do need to be online for it to work: https://ross.eddb.io/
This is the refit i'm going with for my Eagle. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Currently a small ship like that will have no benefit from a Cell bank. I would recommend you remove it, as it also uses a lot of power. And then perhaps upgrade your shields to something a bit more potent. Something like this if you can:
http://coriolis.io/outfit/eagle/02A3...-EA==.Aw1-EA==
Also changed your hardpoints a little.
This is kinda how I spec my EAGLE - purely for bounty hunting.
