Well... some interesting findings and information. It seems the game is becoming deeper than what we initially thought.

This one:
"Rank missions should no longer instantly fail for no apparent reason"
That's what happened to me last night... TWICE. Hope it's fixed for real.
Found some pretty amazing images (Empire Capital Ship), beware for high bandwidth!

Well this looks hulla interesting, wonder if there's any suppliers locally, if just for local pricing.

I have to find that other pack I know about again. It's quite amazing and one singular person creates it. It's a version of TrackIR using an opensource driver and software kit. And it uses Playstation3 camera with some LEDs you connect to your head set. It's amazing, and super cheap.
I'll search for it and put in on here.
Most kits work with the PS3 cam and FacetrackNoIR/Freetrack/opentrack. I'm using the Delanclip just because i was too lazy to try and build one myself.
Delanclip sounds like the one I am thinking about... Yep it's the one: http://www.delanengineering.com/
You are full of crap man. :P I shat my pants the other night when your dog started barking, I swear it sounded like a banshee screeching. And with my vivid imagination things were going haywire.
Please get a headset and save your fellow gamers' from potential heart attacks.
Not to mention MalicE's background noise...
Well there's a reason I don't play with one. 1) I am a single parent, I need to hear my child! 2) I am very conscious about my ears, they're like my insecurity. Also a reason I don't go to hairdressers as I don't like people touching my ears.
Well this is a fantastic idea to implement... give it a listen.

Listened to it earlier, a couple of things bug me about this current for of implementation. GRANTED it is just a prototype.
But first of all, the chatter is supposed to be background, and it's way too loud in the video. Maybe that's to make you focus on it, but still, makes little sense to me. Secondly some of the chatter makes little sense. At a station, the person who is controlling space traffic would try to keep chatter as short as possible as follows:
1. Get pilot's attention: "Commander Dimwit..."
2. "Docking cleared..."
3. "Proceed to Pad xx..."
4. "Maintain speed below 100" <- Considering how the numerical system works in Elite, everyone would understand this better. It also makes the message a lot shorter than saying: Reduce speed and maintain a speed of 100 meters per second" It's a waste of precious time when you have multiple ships approaching your station.
But I digress, these are just my thoughts.
So, I finally got Elite Dangerousa few weeks back on sale, and managed to install it and gave it a bash. Cannot say I am loving it just yet.
I used to play a lot of Wing Commander Privateer, Freelancer and even some X3. And somehow I find ED very hard to get into. I managed to set up my controls so strafing, landing and generally maneuvering my ship comes easily enough, but struggling to enjoy the game. I gave up for a few days and will try again this weekend. I really want to love this game!
Perhaps some friends can help you out in-game. The game is not very easy to get into or to get used to, it's not meant to be. It will never really hold your hand or guide you through what to do next other than the basic mission description.
I've also found that it plays very different to other space games.
You are welcome to join us if you want to try it out a bit more.
Did you get Elite Dangerous, or Elite Dangerous Horizons?
Is anyone else using a HOTAS? Reavs Wyzak
Should be getting mine today/tomorrow. I know it's a cheapie, basic, entry level but at least it's a start.
Yep, any HOTAS is better than nothing. The one you got is an excellent entry level setup. It makes those adjustments with flight assist off so much better.
Still running with this

Thanks guys! I will have a crack at a long session, finding my feet and then maybe join you guys.
BeoTeK - I am using a very old X35, and running some custom drivers just to get it to work with Windows 10. Saying that, the best feature is the wheels on the throttle, allowing vertical and horizontal drift control, making me really nimble and agile. Pirates beware!
Oh, and I got vanilla ED, not Horizons...
starting over sucks.....
