That is sad news in deed :(
Wow, this comes as a surprise. I wonder why he wants to sell.
I wonder if this has anything to do with his legal battle with a certain MSSA head...
Maybe he just had enough of people's shit. I know Danny Day called Lazygamer a horrible site and Gavin full of hate. This was on Twitter last week. But then Danny has always been a jerk. Or well for as long as I've followed him on Twitter he has been.
I don't think (or at least I would hope it's not the case) that social media quarrels would form the basis for massive business decisions like this (if true).
I'd speculate that it's more likely to do with financials. It may seem a bit surprising, but the SA gaming market does not have scale, or much advertising support.
That's true. It will be interesting to see if he will say what his reasons are. I thought Lazygamer has been doing really well this last year. I remember how proud Gavin was when the site was added to Metacritic.
Sheesh and I really hope MyGaming is doing well. It would break my heart if MyGaming closes or anything like that.
I agree with qornea that I doubt he would want to sell for this reason. I honestly don't even know who Danny Day is though, so maybe there's more to that than I am aware. Whoever he is, he's right about Gavin Mannion being filled with hate. His juvenile diatribes are ridiculous, arrogant and unprofessional.
That being said, I think the other writers at Lazygamer are generally quite entertaining and come across as genuinely nice people. I wouldn't wish that the entire site fail simply because I have a negative opinion of its owner.
This is unexpected. I hope they find somebody willing to buy who will continue building on what seems a pretty solid foundation. I'm not the biggest fan of Lazygamer, but they play an important role in SA gaming and it would be a shame to lose them from the scene.
