Hold on guys. If we read the article; at no point does it state that the Government is expressly planning to relocate millions of people just to appease its AA policies. That conclusion is drawn from the report published by Solidarity and not an legitimate motion put forth by government.
Clearly the wording of the report and the article in general was made to incense and to draw attention, and clearly it has been very successful in that regard.
I am not saying that AA is always a positive thing nor am I saying that we should defend the actions of the ANC. But we should also not be so quick to jump on the hate wagon that we jump to immediate conclusions or worse yet allow those conclusions to be drawn for us.
Easy though it may be; that does not excuse doing it. If we can justify jumping to 'easy' conclusions; we rob ourselves of our intellectual integrity as well as creating a culture of pointing fingers and mis-blaming which makes it difficult, if not impossible, to make clear strides toward equitable social reform in our country.
While I know the article isn't factual at this stage the scary part is that I wouldn't put it past the ANC to try something like this.
Well this is more a case done by Solidarity, but impact could be interesting. As stated earlier, I hope the courts laugh this out instead of thinking about it.Quote:
The Case
According to Solidarity, in the 2012 case it brought against the DCS on behalf of Christo February the state’s advocate argued as follows:
February could move anywhere in South Africa if the demographics in the Western Cape did not benefit him … Take North West for instance: the population is mostly black. They need a combination of black, coloured and white people. The idea is to fill the gaps.
“Therefore, it really is the state’s intention that people should move to those provinces where their number is under-represented. This is what they will formally argue in court.”
“Therefore, such statements are not just populist statements. Hence, people don’t have rights where they are living but will have to move to where they do have rights,” Hermann said.
One goes where one must to make a living for oneself and ones' family. Not go where a piece of paper dictates one should go.
Can't find any other relevant info after their 2012 start to this farce.
*takes chill pill and has more coffee*
It is also the main reason I am somewhat disappointed. I myself wouldn't put it past the current ANC to at least attempt something like this. However that does not mean we should automatically assume that they are currently doing so.
If we complain about unsolicited discrimination emanating from our government; and then turn around with unsolicited discrimination about them; what does it say about us?
I don't expect us to be happy with the government nor should we blindly follow in their ideals. I simply expect,(or rather expected), us to think clearly about the information we receive and draw conclusions based on evidence, fact and logic. The issue is that when you assume that someone will do something wrong; you immediately make it impossible for yourself to see any other options. Thus you choose to shackle yourself intellectually based on pre-conceived notions which then makes it hard to see things objectively.
Most of the country's ills are based within subjective thinking atop pre-conceived notions. If we choose to emulate this long standing tradition at what point is it possible to break out of it?
I heard, from a reliable source, that the ANC wanted to merge the Western Cape and the Eastern Cape as one, this is cause they want more black votes.I'm not lying on this.
They have been trying every dirty trick to get more of their followers into the Western Cape.
FYI, when it was the ANC's bday or whatever ,all those people that were in the stadium were NOT from the Western Cape, they were all flown and bused in from all the other provinces to make people believe they have a strong support in the WC.
Like I said before I got this from a reliable source, don't ask who.
