How is State of Decay? I'm thinking of getting it.
HOTD Overkill? Oh please. Ya, it was a fun game to use the Move controllers and those little plastic gun bits on PS3, but that story was awful. And all the swearing! Over the top.
Then there's that idiot chick who just wouldn't shut the hell up.

Every year I think the zombie craze is over I end up playing another zombie game and end up loving it. Most recently I played The Walking Dead Season 2. Wow! Not much of a game but more of an interactive fiction, but just WOW!
Also, some of the lesser known zombie games tends to draw my attention longer. How To Survive is a crazy and fun little RPG shooter action game thing. Plus co-op!
However, the king of all zombie games has to be 4-player co-op Left 4 Dead 2! 2 TV's, 2 XBOXes, 4 mates, one awesome gaming experience! Had some of my most memorable gaming adventures in this setup!
Technically speaking Res 5 didn't have zombies but was a fantastic game none-the-less.
Apparently Resident Evil 7 will appear this year. Res 6 was crap though.

The Walking Dead should really be on that list. Enjoyed both seasons more than Resident Evil. I also heard good things about Project Zomboid.
