It depends on the game for me. Most of the time I stick with the game's audio since it is designed for that purpose but when the sound doesn't matter too much or I get tired of the soundtrack I'll listen to some other music while playing. The only 2 games I currently do that with is Awesomenauts and Speedrunners.
Depends on the game, a game that tends to draw you in more like say PAYDAY2 I won't listen to music but if it is something a bit slow paced like say a Civ game or most strategy games, I tend to play music, in some cases when I am playing a multiplayer games without friends on teamspeak I tend to play some music as well with moba games.
In short I would say games with a good soundtracks like racing games, singleplayer fps games and sidescrolling platformers like TRINE, I tend not to listen to music, but if I play any game that tends to be a bit quiet in the sense that all there is, is "sound effects" and is not really engaging like moba's, strategy games, and MMORPG's I would listen to music.
Agreed. The only time I'd consider it is if I really didnt need the sound, like on say Fifa..
The other day I caught my brother playing AC3 while listening to the cricket :wtf: I was so disappointed. In my own home!!
If you guys play dying light you would be so bored of the soundtrack since you can clearly hear when it starts to repeat and it just gets on your nerves.
I always turn in game music off. Music breaks the immersion completely. way better to hear the atmospheric sounds as if you are there. I highly recommend trying it out.Its a shame really as so much effort goes into producing the music. For racing, sport and multiplayer games I will listen to my own music in the background.
