Agreed but when you have a company with 120 people and the CEO is to cheapskate to buy the licenses for Office 2007 for those 120 people what else can you do? And 120 x R2769 is a lot of money.

As a scholar with computer studies, I am compelled to have a copy of MS Office 2007 (with MS Access for database studies). I find it absurd that I have to pay more than R3000 for a program just because my school uses it; there are many database alternatives. Without a doubt, I got a pirate copy from a friend.
Shun me.
Because it is easier to pirate I guess?

Meh. I get Word, Excel and all that junk as well. :p Not really bothered seeing how Microsoft is the root of all evil. But that's for another endless thread.
Oh, come on. I was just starting to like you. The "greedy corporations" thing is mostly propaganda, you know. There's an interesting section discussing that in the piracy article linked elsewhere around here.
yarrrrrrrrr @ Vixe.... you wouldn't steal a car.....you wouldn't steal a handbag.... you might steal candy from a child...
Haha, I was just kidding :p , and I know which article you are referring to. It's page 6 where they say that Sony and Microsoft bribe developers: http://www.tweakguides.com/Piracy_6.html
I don't really believe Microsoft is evil, I just hate the overpriced nature of their software. But like I say, that's for another endless thread :)
i wonder how many hours you would spend developing an office packet...taking in account roughly R150-R200 p/h and then also money spend on R&D, consultancy, marketing and obviously testing too. seems you would have to pay a few persons- how much would you think it's going to cost to make something like a complete office packet ? not to forget you also would need to deploy a support team afterwards who would need pay for a few years after the product has been sold.
