Well obviously the "solution" is to simply not buy it. But I just thinks its pretty lame to try do something like this in the 1st place.
Paying for a demo is just madness. Mind you, many people will prob end up buying the demos of highly anticipated (read hyped) games. My guess is something like COD:MW2 would have sold many 10000s of demos, if thats a way to get to play the game 'before its released'. Its business. you don't have to buy the demo. I reckon South Africans with our limited bandwidth (coming to and end !!) wouldn't have downloaded modern demos anyway because of their size.
They don't get enough money? In this way the piracy will be even higher.
I think this will lower the popularity of a lot of games, cause demos = marketing scheme to make a game more popular, no demos = less exposure
so if demos are given a price tag, it will not only get less exposure, it might even make others not buy their demos anymore cause some people might not like how that specific game is played/layed out/...etc, as well as people rating the full game experience based on a half-made-game demo with very little features compared to all the graphical and in game features that the full game has.
Well this seems like a really silly idea. Not sure how many people will be willing to pay for a demoa, but there will be some out there. I simply won't pay though, and I think that most people will also refuse to pay for a demo.
It will be a truly lol worthy moment the first time that I see someone playing a pirate version of a demo.
