Every Microsoft-published game will now be available on Xbox One and Windows
Is this the death of console exclusivity?

I can't understand their rationale behind this. Where is the incentive now to buy an Xbone? The only reason one should consider it now is to have integration with their other entertainment systems. That or if you can't afford the PC.
Microsoft has always baffled me with their decisions.
Still, I will get that new XBox console when it comes out and I have a gaming pc so I guess the XBone will still sell. But yeah it does suck a bit not to be able to have the exclusives. I mean then in my case it would have been better to get a PS4 since I can still play the Microsoft exclusives on the pc.
No offense to anyone but I just like Microsoft. :-)
It's part of their "One Strategy, One Microsoft" mantra.
To quote from their 2013 blog post
Bla bla bla...the bottom line is that your gaming platform is Microsoft and as such the Xbox, "PC" and any other device running a MS Operating System is simply becoming a delivery platform. They want the choice of hardware to become irrelevant.Quote:
We are rallying behind a single strategy as one company — not a collection of divisional strategies. Although we will deliver multiple devices and services to execute and monetize the strategy, the single core strategy will drive us to set shared goals for everything we do. We will see our product line holistically, not as a set of islands. We will allocate resources and build devices and services that provide compelling, integrated experiences across the many screens in our lives, with maximum return to shareholders. All parts of the company will share and contribute to the success of core offerings, like Windows, Windows Phone, Xbox, Surface, Office 365 and our EA offer, Bing, Skype, Dynamics, Azure and our servers. All parts of the company will contribute to activating high-value experiences for our customers.
there will be four engineering areas: OS, Apps, Cloud, and Devices.
Hell, at the rate they're going the operating system might become irrelevant at some stage and things will go to a "requires an x86_64 capable processor" type route, but that's mainly just wishful thinking.
