Eve Online goes free to play after 13 years

The long-running subscription-based Eve Online has gone free to play.

Now, for World of Warcraft to become free.

And I was literally thinking about resubbing this week.

As a long time and still active player I believe this change will make the game a lot easier for people to start as well easier to return to the game.

With the limits placed on a free character you can get involved in a lot of the fun stuff in Eve, including PVP so it is not very restrictive at all.

Looking forward to having more people in game!

I really want to play it but it just looks like one of those games that require way too much time.

As a big EVE fan I'm very happy with this change. The player numbers have been going down, and this might just inject a lot of new players into the game.

You can start a trial account now and start playing in the meantime. By the time your trial has expired the game will be free to play and your account will automatically convert.

How many South Africans are playing this still?

Started a new char and thinking of subscribing is it still worth it? Any South African corps still?

Well I'm part of a SA corp, and I would say we are the biggest corp of SA players in EVE, we are about 150, but there is a lot of alts as can be expected.
