Another hate Activision thread.....
However I completely and 100% agree with Grant hence the reason why I havnt and will not purchase those Maps...
This is like bitching about the cost of putting satnav in your car. If it's too expensive, don't bitch, just shut up and don't buy it.
The problem is - as one of the commenters pointed out - that gamers tend to be a junkies and can't say no. And because they can't say no, Activision keeps making their money, keeps getting their support and keeps coming up with crap like this.
I haven't bought MW2 - and I never will - quite frankly because Infinity Ward (which produced the game in the first place) doesn't exist as it used to, they have one of the biggest d!cks in the gaming industry running the company, and because of the whole uproar surrounding IW in the first place.
For similar reasons I no longer support Ubisoft because of their draconian anti-piracy measures - I don't feel like being punished because I support them, but that's what they are doing.
But hey ... I'm only one player. If I don't buy, but 999,999 other people do (and then invariably complain about abovementioned companies afterwards), the 300-odd bucks they're not getting out of me isn't going to hurt them much, now is it?
Honestly, gamers are only shooting themselves in the foot, if not amputating their own legs.
I agree. But the problem with this particular case, is that a lot of people will have already bought the game, only to discover than in order for online multiplayer to continue being viable, they must buy the additional maps.
If you don't buy them, then it becomes difficult to enjoy the game, as you will constantly be kicked from games.
Also, it's not just that the maps are premium DLC, but that they're so expensive. I don't mind paying, say, 560 or even 800 MSP for a map pack add-on, but 1200 MSP is extortion.
Although.
I did buy them. >_> I was asked to review them for NAG, though, so I kinda have an excuse.
Azi aslong as you are getting that money back...
1200 MSP is freaking extortion if you ask me...
Actually, no. It was still my choice to take the assignment or not, and since I do play a fair bit of MW2, it wasn't a big deal for me. I write for a local Xbox news site, which pays me in MSP. I literally have over 9000 MSP, and not much to blow it on. :P
