The comparisons are starting to come out.
The xbox one X version clearly has better lighting and shadows but the one/s versions still looks pretty damn good even with some toned down and scaled back assets.

I'm so looking forward to this game! Will get it when I get the XBox One X when it's released in South Africa in a couple of year's time.
Some other comparisons have also started to come out regarding Forsa VIP membership in Forza 7 and previous installments.
In previous games VIP members were permanently able to enjoy the benefit of double credit earnings after races. In Forza 7 a VIP membership will get you some mods that essentially do the same thing while being limited to 25 uses. I can confirm this is the case as I have being playing the game since Friday and received VIP membership with the ultimate edition of the game.

Hahahaha the suttle hatred in this post :D
I really want to get a 4K capable console for my TV. I'm already invested in the MS environment, so the One X is obviously a nice draw in that regard.
However, I can get the PS4 Pro for cheaper, and I also get access to Sony exclusives then!
I watched a 4K program on my TV the other day via Plex on my X1, and I was like "meh, doesn't look that great", but then I realized/remembered that ofcourse the X1 doesn't support 4k via HDMI.
So I put the 4K thing on my portable and plugged it into the TV's USB port. Holy fuck! The difference was astounding! I felt like such an idiot!
No, I have the normal X1. What happens is, I have 4K content on my PC, however the X1 HDMI ports don't support 4K, so any 4K content gets downscaled to 1080p. It will still play, but it won't be at 4K.
For me to get 4K, I have to use a USB device with 4K content on it, I can stream it (although not very practical with my internet speed), I can connect the TV to my PC and probably do it that way, and perhaps I can directly cast it from my PC to my TV (I can cast stuff, but I don't know if it will be 4K then or if it gets downscaled).
I can't wait for Forza 7. But I'll have to wait to play it until I'm at my Xbox again.
Also, the Forza subreddit is livid about the VIP and microtransactions debacle. Its rather unpleasant.

if the One X is going to end up more than R7800 im just gonna settle and get me a ONE S during black friday and use the other money i was gonna use for the X on a new fireplace.
The game itself is amazing. I've been spending all my time on the career and free play so far. Will give the multiplayer a try tonight, if its working. A lot of stuff is still greyed out on the menus until the official release. I noticed the auction house and forzathon are both not selectable yet.
*update* Just tried the multiplayer and it can't find any sessions, just like it did for me in Forza 6. Will try again tomorrow.

Well, today is the day, and I am not even close to my Xbox. Will probably only get to play in 2 week's time. But it is very concerning to see and hear all the negativity of the community about the microtransactions.
But let me play devils advocate quickly:
Sure, the microtransactions are a very bitter pill to swallow but do you perhaps think they are there to ensure the game can actually be profitable? Perhaps the licencing of all the 700+ cars that Turn 10 had to get has been so expensive that the normal selling price and early projections of sales numbers will not be able to sustain the game for too long? How about those servers hosting all those drivatars? Is it possible that, in stead of a developer being greedy and trying to screw its community, its doing this just to keep the lights on at the development house? Nobody knows exactly what the financial state the developer is in, and perhaps the issue is that, if they want to make Forza Horizon 4, or Forza Motorsport 8, they need microtransactions to bolster their income
Its pretty cynical of people to just assume the worst right off the bat.
I don't know. I really get the feeling that the developer, or rather the publisher, is being greedy here. I've hit a few progression walls in the game where I couldn't buy certain cars or compete in events because I didn't have the required collector level. To do that I had to grind a bit and redo races and buy enough cars, that I didn't particularly care for, in order to progress. I feel also that we pay a premium for these games and that that should be enough to keep the lights on by itself. This VIP situation is just ensuring that everybody who is playing the game will at some time be forced to consider microtransactions to curb the frustration.
Gamers have been burnt with DLC practices for a long time and, it does not seem to go away. Look at Shadow of War and NBA 2k17. You will have to forgive us for being cynical.
Forza is in it's 10th(?) title in the series. It's also vital to note that; Turn 10 is a subsidiary of Microsoft. They are getting backed by a billion dollar company which gives them a lot of things for free essentially. No one keeps a game series running for such a long time other than to make money.
Im glad to see that Maple valley made a welcome return to current gen forza
This is somewhat concerning to hear. I've read multiple times that people say the game feels built from the ground up with microtransactions in mind. It's concerning to say the least.
Yes, they are in their 10th iteration. And you make very valid points indeed. I think I'm just trying to understand why a developer and studio I've hold in high regards for so long would do this.
Because everyone is doing it.
It's a shame though, I've decided to not buy it...difficult decision but honestly having to fork out R1000 for a game, then all the dlc and then they still hide content behind a loot box system.
Forza has always been profitable.
Forza Horizon 3 sold over 2.5M copies
Forza 6 sold 2M copies
Forza 5 sold over 2M copies
Let's not mention the insane amount of DLC/Car packs and the price of the game.
As far as licensing goes. They hold the licensing for a period of time (Months/years). They'll only pay licensing for new vehicles and again a lot of companies like Ford and Porsche have been launching new cars in tandem with Forza releases, so I'm fairly certain they make a pretty penny from those deals as well. Not to mention in game advertising ect.
Eh sad day for me.
Plus as far as I heard from compliants on both the Forza forum as the subreddit, the PC port isn't in the absolute best state. Forza has never really been strong on the PC in the past. People have always complianed about the PC ports from Turn 10.
I'm still gonna buy the game thought. I'm sure the game will still feel and play amazingly.
I'll definitely get the game when I get the XBox One X.
Another thing, I think we must reinstate the weekly MyGaming Forza challenges. I really enjoyed those, and I think everyone else did as well. I'll give it a month or so just for things to calm down with regards to the microtransaction debacle and hopefully the XBX launch, then we'll get going. First need to get back into the game and get racing again.
Anyone still interested in restarting those MyGaming Forza Challenges?
Bad business practice aside, this game does still play very nicely. If you focus on the game play and try not to think about the other stuff, you won't be disappointed. I'm hoping for some new tracks when the DLC starts rolling out. They can carry on about the content as much as they like but when you come right down to it, the only new track is Dubai and the American circuits are way over-represented. Would've been great if Kayalami, which is an official Porsche track, was in this game...
I would be keen on that. The issue however is that the leaderboard system has changed significantly so doing what we did for FM6 may be a bit trickier. I havent spent much time figuring the new system out though. If I have understood it right, you may need to put in lap times via races and so leaderboards will be homologated and not class based.
Otherwise I feel disappointed with the launch. The racing feels good and the graphics are pretty though seemingly worse than FM6. I currently can't join public hoppers do to the same "game session not found" error as I had with FM6. I have been emailing the devs support email and they have been responding so I may get a resolution on the multiplayer issue. The seeming lack of leaderboards is also saddening.
I also can't get the game to download on PC yet.
Overall, for me its a bitter experience for the price of R999.
Double damn!!! We'll that's why we won't start now and give us some time with the game to get to grips as to how we will do the thing. I haven't played it yet, so I can't comment about how we potentially can do the challenge.
Everything I'm hearing is making me super sad though. I love Forza SO MUCH!! Hopefully some of these launch issues can be solved and fixed as the game goes on.
Yes absolutely we can do that. Last time the week by week thing worked, but two weeks will give people more than enough time to complete the challenge and join the fun.
Don't get too discouraged by all the negativity though.
I'm not sure what aspect of the game you are looking forward to the most but if it's mostly career, I think you will have a great time. If we do laptime challenges you should earn extra currency to avoid too much career progression grinding. You can also use in game currency for loot boxes.
Theres also still features to be enabled, such as leagues and forzathon, so there is a chance for some fixes to leaderboards and the private/public hoppers.
I would be, but I think it's going to be a little trickier to arrange this time around, what with loot crate restricted content, low CR earnings and not everyone having access to the same cars from the beginning. If we can figure something out to get the Forza Challenges running again, and once I actually have the game, I'm keen. Like Solitude suggests, I'd definitely appreciate a little more time to complete the Challenges.
Also, does anyone know if leadernboard times are platform specific - or as a Play Anywhere title do my times reflect the same regardless of whether I set them on XB or PC?
Looks like Turn 10 are doing something about the VIP Pass shenanigans:
Alan Hartman - Turn 10 Studio HeadTuesday, October 3, 2017
Since Forza Motorsport 7 launched into early access last week, everyone here at Turn 10 has been keeping a close eye on our players’ feedback. The most important thing to us is to maintain open communication with the Forza Community. We’ve heard what you have had to say and, starting today, you can expect some significant changes.
VIP and Ultimate
Over the weekend we heard loud and clear from Ultimate Edition owners expressing frustration over the VIP membership offer in Forza Motorsport 7. We immediately updated the VIP description in the Windows Store to alleviate any future confusion. As head of the studio, I apologize for any confusion or frustration our players may have experienced.
Going forward, we will continue to ensure that Forza Motorsport 7 VIPs receive the most value for their VIP membership, including new experiences and great content. Starting today we’re sending all Forza Motorsport 7 VIPs four additional Forza Edition cars:
2016 Jaguar F-TYPE Project 7 Forza Edition
2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Forza Edition
2017 Acura NSX Forza Edition
2010 Maserati Gran Turismo S Forza Edition
Forza 7 VIPs will be able to download all these cars from the in-game message center and add them to their car collection. Players will not only enjoy an immediate bump to their Car Collection score after adding these Tier 5 Legendary cars to their garages, they’ll also be able to take advantage of the inherent perks that each of these Forza Edition cars offer. In addition to the cars, we’re also sending all Forza 7 VIPs 1 million credits.
Secondly, and even more significantly, we will be changing VIP rewards in Forza Motorsport 7. This new system will work like it did in Forza Motorsport 6, offering a 2X base credit bonus after every race. We’ve already started work on this feature and we will release it as soon as possible. Look for more information on this update as we near the release date.

Been reading most of what's been going on here and following the controversies and stumbled across this video, found it quite interesting actually.

I listened to that now and it makes sense. Man, I really want the game but it feels like it should be played on the XBox One X. I wish we can get some clarification from the XBox Assholes.
Microsoft pulls U-turn on controversial Forza Motorsport 7 VIP changes
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...-7-vip-changesQuote:
Microsoft has backtracked on its unpopular changes to Forza Motorsport 7's VIP bonuses, following a firestorm of fan outrage.
Late last week, early adopters were dismayed to find Forza 7's VIP bonuses did not work as they had in Forza 5 and 6. Worse, Microsoft had not communicated the change prior to the game's Ultimate Edition going on sale.

What really impresses me is that despite the constant evolution of games and (specifically) this series, is how they continually impress by maintaining support and standards on "old" technology like the OG Xbox. The fact that it still runs and maintains a solid 60fps standard is impressive while still looking so darned fantastic, I mean look at it!!
maybe the pit crews are only available when the game is ran on the one X
Lol Forza has never had any pit crews ever. I really don't know why, especially in the Motorsport version of the game. Then again Forza has never really been a game where long races and pit stops has played a major part in the game. Most races are over long before fuel or tire ware becomes an issue.
