A new total war is always good:D

Only been playing since Rome. So I've never played the original. TBH, kinda glad they going back to the pre-gunpowder age.
-
-
I hope it will have a grand campaign map.
-
Hope that they include the funny videos like the first one and that they make those Geisha girls less powerful.
-
-
I hope it includes a hotseat mode. If it has a campaign like the others.

I loved the first Shogun, I only had it for like 6 months though as I stupidly left the disk in the CD rom drive of the laptop I gave back to the company after I left it :-(. But got Rome and enjoyed that even more bwahahahaha

This... is... so... awesome... can't... speak... coherently... AaaaaaaaAAAaAAaaaAaAaaAh!
-
Not sure if I'm excited about this yet... first need to know if it has that Steam integrated DRM like Empire. I am a big fan of the TW series but I refuse to use Steam.
edit:
ah well... I just read over here that it's another unfortunate Steam baby. gg
Fuck you Sega, gb2console.

Steam is unintuitive and limited, it's slow. The pings are crap even to local dedi servers, the interface is shit, it doesn't let me play without mandatory game updates which wreck any mods I had, no ability to resell games that turned out to be crap, or to give old games to your friends. And with regular games you just click the icon on the desktop and the game loads. With Steam you click the icon on the desktop then it's UPDATING STEAM PLATFORM again, then wait for that to finish, then maybe play the actual game. Fuck that. And if Steam disintegrates tomorrow... you have a nice collection of imaginary games to brag about that you'll never be allowed to play again.
The final straw for me was seeing UPDATING STEAM PLATFORM for the thousandth time. I decided that I was going to simply uninstall one of my Steam games.. and UPDATING STEAM PLATFORM popped up again. And stayed there for 3 hours.
And I've always found it funny how so many Steam users remind me of religious freaks.

maybe put that 56k modem away grandpa ?

LOL I used* Steam from about 2005 until September 2010.
*I write "used" there because I can't think of a better word at the moment. There was certainly never any use for it that I found. Just a hindrance getting between me and my games.
Question: I bought the retail version of Metro 2033 and had to register it with Steam. After playing it through I thought it was a bit crap. Can I give it away and the recipient will be able to play it, or is that registration code locked to my Steam account forever?
-
steam works (as used by metro, empire, napoleon and possibly shogun 2) means it's tied to your account permanently. there is whispers of maybe sometime along the line you would be able to turn in your game for credits, but i guess that is only for those that you have bought digitally and not just titles using steam works for protection.
i've only had gross issues (such as repetitive updating/downloading) with steam in the very beginning which they eventually fixed. steam works is one way to combat piracy, though even that can be cracked as with most protections.
this as with all things going towards always on and always connected has only one (ok maybe two) countries in mind... usa. they don't give a flying fuck if we have shitty internet and have to suffer because of their mechanics they are trying to implement to hush away piracy and to better the services (like battle.net 2).
and yes, metro was not so good as i would have loved it to be.

Congrats. Where'd you order from? Zaps?
I ordered the Limited Edition -- for once a game I don't feel terribly compelled to get a CE for :o My OCD wonders if it was the right decision :p
I ordered from BT, they still seem to be aiming for a 25th release date :/

only reason i thought about double checking was because zaps got their stock in for the LE. fivel then asked me if i knew something about bt, which i followed up with them as their site said 25th.
so i phone in menlyn branch, they said NO, but later on i got notification to pickup my CE. then pm-ed fivel, who already pm-ed me to pick up.
i've been always of the opinion after the vegas fuckup, that BT sometimes isn't up too the game due to A) their website that doesn't update or B) some other unknown issues that always seems to screws around the pre-ordering.
-
meh, that was terrible. lol i ended up poor, small army, only 4 regions captured and neighboring clan killing me :D
going to look for some basic tips not to end up poor again.
-
How's the game compared to Empire and Napoleon? I enjoyed Empire till all the game-breaking bugs had me reloading hour old saves to get past broken AI, etc.

empire afaik, is fixed if you apply all the patches. napoleon i've only like started before getting shogun 2. the only TW i've played relentlessly was shogun 1.
compared to the original, wow it's one hell of a game. i'm only beginning in to see how much effort and dept there is in shogun 2 which as has made me want to play empire and napoleon even more so.
taken break from shogun 2 after playing it for too long nonstop from friday into saterday lol. will be doing some more shogun 2 again tonight thought, starting with the training missions.

I heard there was a 16 gig patch :O

only if you install it like a n00b. if it does happen where it thinks it wants to download the game rather
than installing, then just stop the installation. remove local files and reinstall from disc. more of a BKAC issue...
