nah it's cool, i'm tinking if just getting the 14 day trail :D
Permissions.
The R60 one gives you full access to the game (excluding expansions obviously). The free version is pretty much like a Trial version without a time limit.
You get to see what the game is like, but you're locked out of a lot of it. E.g. you can only have a certain amount of gold, only 1 character per server, no "fast mount", limited "BG's", limited bank slots, so on...
So LOTR going free is not really going to be free technically? So you would still need to pay subs to get the "full" experience, am I correct in this thinking?
Yes.

Just finished downloading the client earlier but now it has to update :(.....
Playing the game for a week now. Really cool so far. Anybody playing on the Snowbourne server?
Im actually looking forward to playing this a little as i come from a mmo background.. I prefer them over FPS just because it rewards you for hard work not lucky shots or hiding behind doors. Does anyone know if we are/will/is a South African server or do most of you play off the European ones
I are definitely buying this TOMORROW!!!
I will need to hook up the updates from someone here in JHB though. Private message me if you can oblige, plox
Also, i want to know if this game is DX11 or DX10 or DX9 or what?
Awesome. I have a feeling the business models for gaming is going more this route everyday. Those crappy facebook games showed just how...
haha brilliant! so true, i would never pay a monthly fee for a game, unless i had a well-paid job. i have the feeling though that there is an untapped market in the "poor-students" lol
EDIT:Also, i want to know if this game is DX11 or DX10 or DX9 or what?
lool, just like a drive by shooting...
edit:
i've won a key over at mmorpg. though no word on the key yet in mail.
Heya, gents! i just bought Shadows of Angmar Gold Edition! w3wt! for only R60, thats pretty cool i guess.
I wont be able to play until i buy my new graphics card though, but could anyone hook me up with the game updates, i heard they are pretty huge? I'm in Johannesburg, I'm pretty central, just a 15minute drive to Wits university...
I've got a spare beta key if anyone is interested...
Gamespot will also be giving away some beta keys.

F2P Launch Date Confirmed for the 10 September, points shop to be launched on the 08 September for those of us in game.
Will points only start accumulating from 8 Sep or will it be applied retroactively?
Im not 100% sure if we get our 1st points on this day, but what i do know is that their are no retro points, due to the way they designed the point system. If they had to give points to everyone for the deeds completed already some people would have a couple of hundred thousend points owed to them.
So i'm guessing that i'll have to download a new client on the 10th of Sept? The beta client won't be converted?
No, Servers will be down for upgrade on the 07.10.2010, they will then patch the current client and add the new update as well as make the F2P changes. On the 08th they launch the new server plus the shop for Current VIP's already in game and the F2P guys then get full access on the 10th.

That is in reference to a head start release on September 8, which means Enedwaith and F2P will be fully in place on US servers two days before F2P opens to the wider world. Whether or not we get a similar head start here in Europe remains to be seen, but Enedwaith is certainly included for the September 10 launch.
Guys, please help me out here!
How many gigs on disk is the LotRO client version 3.00? I bought the compilation pack and it is on version 2.something... I've been googling like mad but I get no joy :(
I need to know so that I don't get capped FFS
http://www.fileplanet.com/106742/0/0...ection/Patches
Hey man there are the stand alone patches. and there sizes.
hey, man. thanks for the attempted assistance...
but there is no unequivocal nomenclature for this game's stupid update/patching system. Some updates are called "books", Mines of Moria is called "Volume II". I don't know how to check which "book" I'm on and the launcher updater downloads at .5 megs/s saying that I have downloaded 100 parts of an 11 thousand part update with no mention of how large the parts are!!! wtf are they thinking?
Uber frustrating!
oh well, the update is 10% underway and the folder is hardly much larger, the uncertainty was just getting to me. thanks man
can you work it out.
Does it tell you how much it has downloaded in megs or just the persentage?
If you have the megs you can work out more or less how much are still left.
Is this free to play yet? All the guffaw and I can't even find a link on google :O
it goes free to play on Friday, i personally am quite excited to play my first mmo.
@Crzwaco : there is no indication of meg size, but and it won't be accurate, I could time how long it's been going for and multiply that by the megs/s download rate.
edit: not all "parts" are of comparable size :/ i'll just have to live with this idiocy
Is this the same game or will this copy work?
http://www.kalahari.net/games/Lord-o.../32578847.aspx
I am thinking of getting it just for the install files.
I honestly wouldn't know.
It took me 2 days on my 4Mbit line, purely because it's a buttload of small files which do not reach full download speeds. I did give InSanity the updated client on 4xDVD's though. Maybe check if someone in your area on here has it.
My mate says the UK release has been delayed for next month?
