Dead Space was and is an incredible game.
God knows what Raven's got against that one :/

Sorry dumbed down? the very essence of C&C was always the tank rush! no different in generals...
1. Why on earth would you play Resident Evil 4 standing? o_O
2. Actually, I've played one of those Harry Potter games (on Wii, no less), and it was a solid, entertaining game. Just because it looks casual doesn't mean it's shit.
3. But Halo isn't trying to be Half-Life 2. Halo is mostly about the multiplayer, and the multiplayer is loads of fun.
I just can't work out why you'd waste your time "blasting" this stuff. So you're not into it. K. Play something else. I just don't understand this mindset that says, "If you don't like it, rage." Gamers spend far too much time hating on things they don't like instead of playing things they do like.
Not all serious gamers care about JRPGs. :P
Dead space was just badly ported. Sure it might great on whatever console you guys played it on. But the PC version was just plain bad.
Yeah, but atleast in RA2 and earlier they didn't try and hide it behind all sorts of useless "strong vs/weak vs" crap. And Generals and onward were just copying starcraft in the playing style.
dumbed down or completely ruined is C&C4...
that's just plain bad...
I used to be a solid gamer, but dumbed myself down quite hectically ... mostly because I want to zone out while gaming in my old age.
I've gone from playing games for 32hrs straight or Lanning 3 days in succession to getting bored with a game 40mins in and going to bed.
I'd honestly prefer to play the old nintendo games than sit through hours of tutorials and long boring quests.
In essence, I believe game development has changed gaming from a challenge to a storyline. Because face it, even though most game storylines leave a lot to be desired, you're still expected to be able to finish the game. Older gen games were actually properly challenging. Especially with no save option. I've never beaten the end boss in Jackal, no matter how many times I played through the stages to get my damn jeep there. Beating the end boss in Contra felt like an accomplishment.
In fact I can list a ton of games I played where I'd sit for hours and hours on end each and every night trying to clock it, to no avail. Double Dragon1 , Karateka, Adventure Islander, GI Joe, Those little mini ninjas, Monsterbash, BioMenace, etc. All those games were flipping hard and you'd replay them from scratch each time, but it kept you entertained.
Lately I've put my MMO's aside again because they're too mundane. I get immense pleasure out of my basic titles such as Little Big Planetâ„¢, Sega Rally (Arguably the plainest racing game out there) and Burnout (where I've only completed maybe 3 missions, the restof the time I just randomly crash into stuff for the hell of it.)
As for motion control, I haven't had much experience with it, but I get the feeling the technology is the main focus, rather than subtly complimenting the game. Uncharted is a prime example of how it could be used, where you have to balance-walk across a beam maybe 2 or 3 times in the entire game. The rest of the time PowderBucket and I can sit on the couch like a bunch of lurkers and move little more than our fingers.
Halo I played flat out on PC back when it first came out ... it was really epic until I ran out of bullets and had to use alien guns. I _HATE_ alien / non realistic guns. Which is why I don't play Doom/Quake/whatnot ... (Quake1 Nailgun, you're forgiven my dear friend)
As for FPS's ... I only really play SP mode. I used to be a die-hard CS & BF2 fan playing online literally nonstop. I even have close to 100hrs logged just for commander. But again - lately I just find it a drag and would rather play a single player game somewhere else. I bought BC2 and finished the campaign, but logging little over an hour on MP before stopping.
In closing ... gaming means something different to each and every one of us. As long as you enjoy your level of gamerosity, so what? I'm glad we're all at different levels of gaming and enjoy different games. Diversity is the spice of life.

Surprisingly, my opinions are informed. I've played it as well (The Half Blood Prince for PS3). I didn't like. In my opinion, it had very little depth and value (compared to, say, the old Jak and Daxter games). Just so happened that, like many other games of it kind which I also think aren't very good, it targeted more of a 'light-hearted' audience. Therefore I established a link between being casual and being shit.
I never said Halo was trying to be like Half Life 2, I just said that that it doesn't quite match up to it. I was not talking about multiplayer in the first place. I was talking about the single-player experience.Quote:

It's not "blasting" in the literal sense, Azimuth, it's expressing an opinion, just how you are expressing your opinion against mine. I don't spend a lot of time 'hating,' (more of my time is spend gaming), but when I am asked to discuss a particular topic on a forum and my feelings tend to a certain direction I will express them. The beauty of forums is to share different viewpoints. I'm not running around saying things like "Xbox is FoR StUpId PeOpLe" because I do not own one myself, but if I have had a bad experience with a game I will have a certain opinion of it and have a right to express it when asked. Just how you have the right to "rage" about and insult Counter Strike gamers to your heart's content in a national magazine.Quote:

That is called an example. Most gamers who play JRPGs are also 'hardcore' gamers.Quote:

I'm not sure where your "mindset" to "rage" at all my opinions is coming from. This is a discussion forum. If you want to patronize people, I'm sure you'll find somewhere else on the internet to do so.
