Does the Xbox 360 scratch disks?
This seems pretty much the same for anything that plays cd's dvd's, etc. Don't move it or cause vibrations. Standard procedure imo.
/sits back for the lynch mob
No I actually agree, I've been playing Xbox for years and not a single disk has had any slight scratch from it.
At the same time on the tests, only the older console scratched a disk, so perhaps MS made newer models a little more resistant to having this happen.
Look I know diddly squat about consoles, but I do have 2 friends (brothers) Both bought a 360, and Gears of war, BOTH in the same week had GOW disks scratched like as if a DJ on a mixing deck got hold of it. Both of them got replacements and it never happend again.
Just weird that 2 consoles in the same house, had the same issue (with the same game disk hahaha).
ONe of my other friends aswell, he bought his son a 360. Was using it for about a year, then he lost 2 disks, both with a perfectly round scratch on them, in the same place.
That is bizarre. Earthquake? I haven't had a thing happen to any of my disks, they're all still immaculate and I've had some since the Xbox game out (or shortly after).
No one else that I know has experienced this either.
Verdict? Keep your Xbox on a proper surface, don't play football in the same room and most certainly don't move the Xbox while it's on :)
Exactly the rule of physics, Ball games in a console room BAAAAAD, i havnt had a single thing happen to me box -touch wood-
It is quite interesting.
I would definitely like to know under what environmental conditions those were under... like, were there big speakers close by, blaring music / big bass or even the game in 5.1 sound, or a shaky / unstable surface, wooden floors? etc etc.
i've had none such issues that i'm aware off, all scrathes are from my dodgy handling of discs
In my 3 years of having an xbox the answer is NO ! The stupid glow in the dark jewel cases crack discs though
i once dropped my new tiger woods disc on the floor, and the "film" on top of the disc came right off. i wonder if they would have exchanged it...
...that always made wonder on how to back up my xbox games, but atleast i'm far more carefull these days *touch wood*
