Unfortunately many South Africans are still extremely conservative. This is a large reason why South Africa is at times held back by it's people. Anyway, my point with the op is, I just want someone to explain to me how being a gay soldier/pilot/marine/sailor makes you a worse or even incompetent soldier?
I think many have a misconception that gay men are all soft, feminine like men and women are the super bad ass, chicks with more chest hair than some guys. Yes, some homosexual people are like that, but you don't think you would notice them in the military? I'm willing to put money on that those guys weren't exactly falling over their feet to enlist. Gay people can be as normal, everyday as you and me. Which is why so many gays are still in the armed forces and no one is the wiser. So why now that he comes out, is he suddenly no longer a good enough soldier?
