Signal can be optimized and prioritized into our dedicated servers, since Tin tested a while back we have also improved routing and latency specifically for wireless users on our network.
That said, having good signal is enough for downloading and streaming video etc, but having a strong CLEAN signal is what you need for gaming.
By using a Omni or directional antenna the signal quality is boosted as well as overall strength, this impacts latency as it reduces jitter.
The UTD you have should have both a USB and Ethernet connection, this answers the question of being able to share a connection, yes?
