XBox (Kinect) vs PS3 (GT5): What to choose?

So I was in Musica the other day and they had a PS3 Move demonstration going, I played a little table tennis and archery as part of some sports title - i forget the name. Anyway, the table tennis was fun, the delayed response was somewhat offputting, I expected better response times.

For some time now I have been focused on PC gaming, but with the release of GT5 i'm looking to get back in touch with my gaming roots, as with many other devoted PS fans having grown up on PS1 and 2, I would like to follow suite with getting a PS3, but im told that I should wait if I wanted to decide based on the technologies being released which would allow interaction and control via those LED/6DoF devices (which I'm familiar with through FreeTrack) I should possibly reconsider.

Now, i haven't followed events etc in the console arena, but I do know that Metal Gear Solid and Gran Turismo are awesome and are worthy enough on their own merit to make me follow through with purchasing a PS3 BUT, I was told by the chap at musica that the xbox kinect is truly awesome and that if my decision was based on that, it would cause me to reconsider, any views on the matter? please share.

So whats the verdict at present with Kinect, is it alot of marketing hype, or will this revolutionise the gaming world?

PS, Yes, purchasing both would be better, but its one or the other.

Some things to consider :
1) Kinect has a pretty big selection of launch titles compared to the move.
2) GT5 if I'm not mistaken still has no solid release date, kinect WILL launch next month.
3) Kinect demonstrations so far show substantial lag.
4) Gran Turismo is the benchmark for all racing games, GT5 will be no exception (my personal opinion)
5) Kinect is R2000 while the move is about R600
6) Metal gear solid is no longer a PS exclusive, but there are many other exclusives worth considering ie uncharted, LBP etc.

So yeah 2 Dance Games, 3 Fitness games and a bunch of other crap which a 9 year old would not be caught dead playing.

Gooooo Microsoft. The N64 launched with only 2 games(SM64 and Pilotwings) back in the day and it was about a gazillion times better in terms of content (and gameplay).

But hey, clearly quantity > quality.

This is how they know.

Also, I bought Move, it is incredibly accurate, far ahead of the Wii (I have tested it with Heavy Rain and Planet Minigolf)

The only problem I had is my camera is on top of my screen, so when sitting down it flashes that sign on screen to tell me its getting out of range. It was simple to solve, I just put the camera below the screen.

Those 3 fitness games looks pretty cool actually and as for the other stuff... that shit sells.

The N64 was a fully fledged console not a add on....

What tickles me is why everybody seems so keen to knock kinetic. Yes the launch titles are going to be gimicky but somewhere along the lines a dev will make something worth while for it. My wife saw the yoga part of the My Fitness thing as basically told me we are getting the Kinetic. Also I think there is a huge market for educational game for young children 3-6 or so and instead of having to have a wii and an xbox dad can now play on the xbox and have kinetic for the wife/kids. Yes it costs about as much as a new console but look at the tech they put in there, that stuff isn't cheap.

I am looking forward to see what some of the more daring devs (Lionshead) do with the Kinetic. Also with that game making tool for the xbox 360 it might not be that long before we start seeing indie games for the Kinetic....

I'm not knocking the tech as it stands, just the current application of it and the obvious lack of integration we'll have when it comes down to actually playing the games we like.

That and MS' obvious "fuck the core gamer"~stance which they seem to have taken recently.

Lionhead? Daring? Dude, this is the company that's been re-packaging Populous as something else and re-selling it to you for the last couple of years.

I'd be very keen on seeing some indie games built around the capabilities of kinect. I do appreciate indie titles, but unfortunately they will never satisfy my gaming needs as much as Gears and Halo does.

Erm, the Move is not laggy. I've tested it with several games and it grafts like a champ.

See i must be stupid or somethign but I dont understand this "fuck the core gamer"~stance alot of "gamers" are talking about. They aren't forcing you to buy kinetic, unless there is some new mandatory kinetic update I missed. EpicGames are still going to make regular old mindless shooter, 343 will push out a new halo like clockwork, COD will still be there so where does this "fuck the core gamer"~stance come in?

If you, or anyone, can put it into layman for me I would really appreciate it.

Lionhead may be doing what you say but old Peter M being the dreamer that he is will, and i have very little doubt about this, focus heavily on Kinetic for Fable 4 or what ever other title he has penned down somewhere.
