Question Is GT5 Going Multiplatform ?

At the Game Developers Conference in 2009, SCEA Hardware Marketing Director John Koller was quoted as saying that Sony were looking at a Gran Turismo 5 release across "all platforms", leading to speculation that the game could also be ported to the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, or even a PC release, which Polyphony Digital President Kazunori Yamauchi has alluded to in the past.

    His original Quote

“Ultimately, they [Polyphony Digital] are a developer who makes a lot of their own decisions, but we are looking at GT5 across all platforms, just to see what makes the most sense. [...] Seriously though, there is really nothing we can really say about it, other than it’s a franchise we would like to continue. So, other than that, we don’t really have any announcements regarding the game at this time.”

E3 2009 may be even more interesting than we originally thought…

Considering all the exclusives sony has lost of the last 2 years vf5, tekken 6, ff13, DMC 4, Assasins Creed etc. it wont be a major surprise if GT5 goes to pc or even the 360

I still think its highly unlikely, this is Sony's flagship title and "all platforms" could really just be all Sony platforms: PSP, PS3, PS2. There isn't much money in PC gaming due to piracy,
we'll just have to wait and see.

Developing the game is costing millions and apparently they're waay over their initial budget, Sony is also deep in financial Shiiiite and with the current rate of ps3 sales they've probably realised they will never make a profit or break even if the game is only released on the ps3

well i can understand them releasing it on Ps3 and Xbox and all that but PC i dont think will really work reason being is because people who dont own consoles and never played the GT series wont be all that interested unless they actually have a passion or just enjoy racing but other than that I reckon PS3 and Xbox will be the main consoles who actually sell well

derStandard: Is there a chance that Gran Turismo will be released on a different platform?

Kazunori Yamauchi: It is very unlikely that Gran Turismo will be released on any other console. But perhaps for the PC. Especially in the Chinese market so we could increase the growth of the brand.
Thats the statement that was made, its a Sony owned IP. The likelyhood of it going to the 360 is like Halo coming to the PS3.

Agree with Sycogrim. Microsoft didn't launch Fonza on PC so if GT5 goes multiplatform it will only be for Xbox and PS. With the economy in shambles the developers will have a better chance at a larger profit if they go multiplat.

no it wasnt (Sega GT is on pc)

Back in 2002 Kazonouri mentioned he wanted to make a pc version of gt3 (apprently they had an almost complete pc build of the game) then sony blocked him, 2 years later in 2004 he said he wanted to make a pc version of gt4, then sony stopped him again, so a pc version doesnt seem way of as he has been eager to port gt games to the pc since 2002.
