Sadly those fat lazy kids won't get off their asses, because they are fat and lazy.Rizza also suggests that enabling just about any game to be played using a Kinect could be a step toward encouraging fat, lazy childhood gamers to get off the couch and actually move around a little.
Don't get me wrong, I love console gaming, PC gaming etc, but I do also believe in a healthy balance between inside and outside. And I know that you can't blame the game & console makers for kids being fat & lazy, but now they are trying to get them to become less fat & lazy by making gaming accessories that encourage movement. I'm loathe to call it exercise!
As for the medical application that these boffins are working towards, well that is simply brilliant. Let's just hope MS doesn't somehow prevent them from achieving these commendable goals.
I don't think MS can get in the way too much. Take this development for example: http://mygaming.co.za/news/pc/9215-P...evice-for.html
At this point, it's probably good marketing for MS to have researchers saying there are scientific applications for the device.
