Nee Denny. The 5870 is basically issueless with blackops.
My one mate had a 5870 till recently, and blackops had NO issues whatsoever. He "upgraded" to a 6870 like me and he started getting issues. reverted back to his 5870 without changing drivers or ingame settings, Purely just a card swap, issues gone.
EXACTLY the same with a guy in my clan. Has a ATi 4890, oldish card but works perfect still for Blackops, upgraded to a 6950 and issues from beginning to end, went back to the old 4890, no issues whatsover.
I'm running:
Amd phenom II 955
4gb ram
ATI 5850
Never had a single issue with cod4, waw, modern warfare 2.
Had some issues with Black Ops but since the new patch released in December, everything is sharp!
No issues whatsoever!
Maybe it's just a driver issue with the new 6xxx series!
I'm definitely thinking driver issue. I used the reference and preview 10.12 drivers, both the same. Interesting note when I installed the Hotfix 10.10e there was improvement in the overall gameplay, the fps average was a lot more stable in all games, but introduced even more microstutter. Also if you google it, there are countless complaints over the same thing with the 6xxx series. Microstutter and FPS Drops. So we have to play the waiting game.

its only black ops thats giving me these issues, no other games are giving me hassles, tonight i'll revert back to the reference drivers that came with my cards cand see if there's going to be an improvement or not.Bra ek het net kak met die kaart. Look my MAXFPS is amazing you can see the card has raw power. Blackops 1920x1200 with 4xAA and details on EXTRA im hitting 300+ FPS in places (and i'm not kidding)
With unlocked FPS in cod4 i'm hitting over 900(will even bring the screenies)
But its stuttery / laggy and its onconsistent cause it will drop (even in cod4) to well below 60fps for quite alot of time then shoot back up.
Look hopefully its just drivers, the cards are rather new etc, I know for a fact that its the second time I have been burned by the Red GAYTi devil, I WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER buy ATi again.

Unfortunately all my games do this all except these "ATI based games" or optimized DX11 games.
AVP2, Dirt2 etc run flawlessly.

I Can't see why you're lagging, I also have a HD 5850 and I'm running the 10.11 driver going to download the latest one now.
Are you experiencing lag in Single player or Multi player?
