Those Squires are awesome beginner guitars, but as everyone says, go to a shop for an afternoon and try a couple. Also don't worry about effects pedals just yet, or look for some in cash converters etc.

Yeah effects pedals and stuff can come later.

Ive been playing for about 14 years now and I don't even have any effects pedals other than a distortion pedal and a Jim Dunlop wah wah
